I have a couple of online friends that have told me about this site, and a couple of others, but I know nothing about these sites, in fact I have never heard about them. I know, I live a sheltered life!

Anyway, anyone out there know anything about these sites, care to share information on them?

Limewire.com

Bearshare?

Edit: Oh yea, forgot, Rapidshare.com?

Stay away, it's illegal, don't pirate, you'll get spyware/viruses/etc.

And all the rips are crap quality anyways.

The most informative thing I've read all day 😀

on a similar subject.. One of my friends got an email a few days ago.. seems the ESA found him downloading the new Splinter Cell over bittorrent. They have his ip, comp name, file names, everything. Sooooo I guess we'll wait and see what happens with that.

I had limewire and got some fing viruses and now i deleted that crap. Now I have the freaking trojan virus on the computer i downloaded it to. I would say just buy the songs, support your artists!

Every single PC I work on that has any of the programs mention installed is always crawling with spyware, virus's and other assorted crap.. I'd avoid all of them.

Seemingly-random advice: excellent free antivirus software for home users. Uninstall your old antivirus first. During installation, uncheck the box for the optional security toolbar (pic).

Despite the dreaded "AOL" logo, this is actually a lite version of Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 6. It has 24 updates per day for fast response to new viruses, it has excellent detection, and it doesn't get in your face without a reason.

On the security topic, I was debating doing a PSA thread here in OT, about a tactic the bad guys have been using: mech's MySpace blog: fake codec = Trojan Horse that installs nasty things Any comments? Would it not be off-topic enough for ATOT?

Ok, Do not install Limewire almost everything you download is laced with virus or spyware....

Just save your computer from the hassle

Your Welcom
