Rush flips; may support Sotomayor

After calling Judge Sonia Sotomayor a ?reverse racist? last week, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday that he may now possibly support President Barack Obama?s pick for the Supreme Court.

?I can see a possibility of supporting this nomination if I can be convinced that she does have a sensibility toward life in a legal sense,? Limbaugh said during his show.

In justifying his flip, Limbaugh pointed out that Sotomayor is Catholic and ?doesn't have a clear record on abortion.?

Hinting that Sotomayor could possibly support overturning Roe v. Wade, Limbaugh said ?whoa, it would be huge.?
there is more....

The only comment I have is....who hoenestly, really cares what Limbughs position is on anyrthing???

Well you started a thread about it......

The other way to look at it, is that if a democrat nominated Jesus Christ himself, Rush would knee jerk oppose it, and if a republican nominated Jesus, he would knee jerk support it. And truth be told, I listen to Limbaugh on occasion, he is an excellent teacher on how not to get logic right. But when I listen to Limbaugh, I have one rock solid guiding principle, never never never buy anything from anyone who sponsors Rush. Its been a very easy decision, 2020 hindsight, because I can't think of a single Rush sponsor worth buying from.

I can't believe Rush is that gullible. Or maybe it's just another case of Obama's superior intelligence overpowering the peanut-sized brains running the GOP.

Lol..... Barry knows how to read a speech.

Well, with the death of Reagan and William F. Buckley, I'll have to agree with the current crop of GOP being essentially brainless. Probably the smartest of the living GOP politicos is Newt, but he's basically through politically (and has a less-than-stellar image due to problems in his personal life).

Even with his fairly frequent verbal gaffes, Obama still is capable of rational and concise thought. I happen to disagree with many of his policies, but can't find validity in any claims of Obama not being a very bright man.

Limbaugh is a millstone around the neck of the conservative movement, he cheapens it and furthers the divisiveness in our nation today. I listen to him off and on, just to keep tabs (O'Reilly surprised me by turning much more moderate towards the end of his radio days), and he spends 90+% of his time complaining / twisting things about the 'left/liberals', and virtually zero time extolling the logic of classical conservative political philosophy, or of any real positive things done by the GOP or conservatives.

A credible speaker for conservatism would do much better by the constituency by spending 90%+ of their time communicating the positive about their philosophy and original ideas, and (far) less than 10% picking fights with half the country.

I'm not entirely sure Rush would oppose the nomination of David Duke, so this could fit right in.

While I agree with a lot of what you say I can't give Obama credit for being all that smart because he really hasn't accomplished much aside from winning an election against a very compromised candidate. He's a great lier and he is calm cool and collected when being confronted and that takes a special person(see Nancy Pelosi).

As far as divisiveness I'll give Limbaugh that but Obama is no better he talks of a new era in politics and bringing parties together while he is trashing Limbaugh, Bush and the GOP in the next breath. Obama has become a man of half truths with just about everything he says and the part of his speeches that aren't half truths have asterisks all over them.

Yep. He took Speech Reading 101 in Harvard Law School

Deafness
Rush Limbaugh has described himself as being "100%, totally deaf". In 2001, he was diagnosed with a rare Autoimmune inner ear disease (AIED), which, in the span of three months, left his right ear completely deaf and left ear severely deaf.

Explains much this does.

I think Jonks misses the point in saying, " Rush Limbaugh has described himself as being "100%, totally deaf". In 2001, he was diagnosed with a rare Autoimmune inner ear disease (AIED), which, in the span of three months, left his right ear completely deaf and left ear severely deaf.

Well maybe, if medical technology was not as good as it now, that deafness would have ended Rush's career, but still, in the grand scheme of things, Rush's voice is big part of his stock in trade, and that medical technology is not evil in any way. But in that trade off, I will take medical technology even if it benefits someone I would rather see not benefited.

As I was using his (since cured) medical condition as a metaphor for his one-sided worldview, I think it is you who have missed the point.

I don't want to contribute any of my tax/insurance dollars to have his problem fixed. He is so inconvenient to me, and I disagree with his opinions.

Is Rush part of a health-insurance plan? I think that he should be able to afford to pay for his own healthcare at full cost. In this way, he will not be contributing to the healthcare of all those illegaliens and the insurance-loving commies.

lol. Forgetting a few things like his academic background, his two autobiographies, his defeat of "sure thing" Hillary Clinton and the freaking Clinton Political Machine? But truly hysterical is your contention in the same sentence that Obama hasn't accomplished much while also conceding that he won the US Presidential election, as if that was just something that happened to him by accident, ignoring everything in his life that he accomplished which led to the opportunity for him to even be considered for such a position.

He might be trying to play on the doubts some Libs have regarding Sotomayor's stance on abortion. There are concerns she may not be strongly pro-abortion (e.g., may not be in favor of late-term abortions etc). Rush is just trying to brew up trouble within the Dem party, but I forsee no effect on her confirmation from this stuff.

Obama met with her for hours before picking her. I have little fears about her judicial positions on abortion.

I feel she also likes to kill babies! But not as bad as Barak "throw that child in the garbage can" Obama.

So Rush is ok with supporting a racist if she opposes abortion? Like we needed any more proof that Rush doesn't even believe his own bullshit.

I have to agree with Citrix when he notes, " millions upon millions do. like it or not people like him and his opinions.

But the question becomes, who gives Rush his marching orders? And to some extent, I think that person is still Karl Rove. As much as I dislike Karl Rove and the divisive wedge issues, Rove is still very good at what he does. Its one thing to have a "brilliant" strategy, but unless one has a means of applying it, said strategy is worthless. Something entity is keeping people like Limbaugh and Fox news on the same basic issues and on message.

I love it. The liberals who constantly claim Rush is a moron who doesn't matter can't stop talking about him! Rush is a genius. Free ratings from the very people who hate him but are too angry and/or stupid to just let it go.

This is exactly the point he was making. It's called satire. And you fell for it, hook, line, and sinker!
