Protect your brain and run for your life. This is one race where your legs giving out are the least of your problems. Run For Your Lives is a first-of-its-kind event, one part 5K, one part obstacle course, one part escaping the clutches of zombies — and all parts awesome.

Runners will navigate a series of 12 obstacles throughout a 5K course in an attempt to reach the finish line — all while avoiding zombies. At the end of this adventure race, you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!

I wish I was in better shape so I could so this. :( Maybe next year.

Holy shit, that sounds awesome. Would love to do it, but I'm not going to Maryland to do it.

I'd be able to run it, I did a half marathon earlier this year and have another one in november. But man, thats a drive from Kentucky. But that does sound really cool, very unique. My wife and I freaking love zombie movies too.

That looks awesome. My wife wants to do the tough mudder (even though I think we'd stand no chance of completing it). If that came to Colorado, I think she'd be all over it.

Sound like a hell of a lot of fun. But it is all fun and games until someone takes it a little too seriously and starts double tapping (rule #2? from zombieland) the zombies.

I bet you could do it if you start training today or tomorrow, that gives you over 2 months to train and a 5K is very short. What is your height and weight?

I will do this if it comes to Minnesota next year. It says more locations in 2012.

It gets even better per the FAQ:

Will the Zombies be chasing me slowly or quickly? Are they the walking dead, or the running dead?

If we told you every detail, this wouldn't be fun at all. Our best advice: be prepared to run, duck, dive, and dodge.

sounds like runners should plan on anything like fake blood being spewed at them and surprises.

That's awesome, I would totally do that run. I thought I saw pics from a similar event before, but maybe I'm confused. :hmm:

6' 0'', 165lbs. I've been focusing on lifting lately so my cardio isn't that great. If I kicked up the running and biking starting this week I might be able to do it.

I'm sure you can do it then. It isn't THAT far and this thing seems more like a fun event rather than an actual race. Even if it takes you like 30 minutes, big deal.

This. You don't have to win, or even be competitive. Just have fun.
