All you have to do is get it running and let the blade drop onto the tree, at which point the weight is working for you...

For anyone that's interested, I believe the V8 is a Buick 215 which is an aluminum block. I've actually lifted one of those blocks myself, they're not heavy at all, though a fully dressed engine definately would take two people.
