like to share improvement on HSF

sanded the bottom of Volcano II HSF because I thought it
would help thermal compound to "sink" in without being
pushed around cpu chip. It immediately lowers the temp by
4C.

This is what they refer to as 'lapping' your heatsink. It can be effective if done delicately... there's usually a little more involved than simply taking a piece of sandpaper and scrubbing the sink...

does that work with other Heatsinks? i shoulda donne that on my thermo engine...**sigh** ohwel....

yes, a propper lappin' requires you to do both the HS and the cpu :) I'm honestly too lazy to do it cause I'll probably kill the cpu.. plus, i have no need for it.. yet :)


Altho, what do you mean by "sink in??" The HS and cpu core should be flush w/ each other.. you don't want excess thermal compound in the center...
