Just got this e-mail:

Don?t let your account freeze up!

Did you know that if your account goes over the 2MB storage limit, it will automatically be frozen? That means:
*You won?t be able to send any messages
*All e-mails sent to you will bounce back without notification

Your account will stay frozen until you delete enough e-mail to put you under the 2MB limit. Then, you'll need to keep monitoring it to make sure you stay well under the limit.

Whats so bad about that? Youre told youre given 2Mb of free space. Why should you expect any more?

as much as i hate to do so, im gonna have to subscribe. its only 20/year but i feel dirty. i simply get too many messages (and spam) and now that they are "freezing" accounts its gonna be hard to keep it under 2 megs all the time.

i hate hotmail, but still use them. too much of a PITA because this has been my defacto email addy for years.

so don't use hotmail. It's their service... plus, what do you expect for free?

Yahoo offers 6MB... use them instead.

and quit yer bitchin'! ;)

whats bad about it is that when you went over before, they at least kept sending your mail through. With the new policy if some f*ckhead sends you 1000 spam letters or 20-30 of those recent virus emails with attachments, if that takes you over 2 megs you will miss other mail.

I got it too...maybe my mailbox wouldn't fill up so fast if they didn't sell my email addy to spammers

just fyi, i think this was sent to everybody, and doesn't mean that you were approaching the limit. they don't make this clear (bastards).

Hotmail, yahoo, and for a while britneyspearsmail.com (is that still around?) ;)

I have to have a couple accounts for people I dont want to know my real accounts, for when I cant access a pop server, and for spam.

If you access your hotmail account through outlook express (automatically) is there a way that you can have it automatically remove messages from the hotmail server once they've been downloaded?

If not, can you do this through outlook express or do you have to log onto hotmail to manually purge stuff?

thanks

<< i got it and deleted it to keep from using my 2mb >>

I did too. Sounds good to me.

Hey, it's free, and my email address is not going away if I change ISPs, so I like it.

I'm not completely sure about this but I think it does it automatically.

Just use Yahoo! Mail like L2C said :) I use both, since both boxes are virtually spam-free (even after I've used my Hotmail addy to sign up for random schist.....my Excite mail.....OTOH.........well.......it's horrible  )

I prefer Yahoo!, so I use Yahoo! as my main box.
