lighter questions

can anyone with a Colibri lighter tell me if they are good lighters?

i usually don't smoke and don't carry one but I'm thinking of buying one (specifically for a pipe) for those social smoking moments. Also, just to have one in case some chick needs a light 😛

the pipe one that i am wanting to get doesn't have a protective cover over the lighter button/trigger, so if i'm carrying it in my pocket can it accidentally light up? hehe

anyone had that problem? thanks!

If you want a good pipe lighter then check out the IM Savellini Old boy lighter, they are sorta pricy at $100 but they are suposed to be the best.

Others to consider are ST Dupont and Dunhill

Colibri are supposed to be ok for their flint lighters, but their butanes are hit or miss

I have collected many Dunhill and ST Dupont lighters. Either can be fitted with a pipe lighter option that puts the flame at a 45 degree angle for easy pipe lighting. The Duponts take a special fuel adaptor, and if you use their fluid it's 5.00 a can, and that's one fill. Dunhills can be filled with the regular adaptors that come with a quality can of butane.
Both brands start at 300-350 US dollars.
Whatever you buy, use good quality triple refined butane, and do the fills correctly. It'll save ya a lotta problems.
I'lll bet that Colibri's looking pretty good by now. 😀

thanks for all the advice ATOTers! i don't think i'm going to spend hundreds of dollars on a lighter (remember boys and girls, me != stoner 🙂) so i think i'm still going with the Colibri. glad to hear no one has had any mishaps in their pockets!

I buy the $.50 ones in line at the grocery store. Always work fine for me. heh heh.

That fire is inferior and will lead to a poor smoking experience.
