lighter fluid in butane lighter

im an idiot. really. I somehow managed to put lighter fluid in a butane lighter. I am such a noob.

not sure how to get it out now, since pushing the inlet nozzle will not release the liquid.

Get something small enough to push open the fill valve, then press the button to open the other valve, and hopefully it will drain?

Or if it won't drain try to add a little pressure by opening the top valve, and filling the lighter with butane with the top valve open? To force the fluid out...

yea, i was surprised to be able to fill it with regular lighter fluid.

I think my lighter is ruined.

I think I and others mean it when we say 'we want to know'...what did you do to get non-pressurized liquid to flow through the valve in a butane lighter?

Random semi-related question: What happens if I fill a butane lighter/torch with propane? Kaboom?

edit: yeah, kaboom. It would appear the vapor pressure of propane at 20*C is like 10bar. Butane is like...1.5bar.

'Lighter fluid' implies something from a non-pressurized container. Like you fill a Zippo with. It's some kind of petroleum product, but I'm not sure exactly what is it. Chemically pretty similar to gasoline, I believe. Which is why it makes cigarettes/cigars taste like dick.

Butane is generally pressurized into liquid form and can fuel both common lighters (Bic and similar) and torches. When not under pressure, it immediately evaporates.

Again, I gots no clue how he would get lighter fluid into a butane device. You don't just pour the fuel in.

With an hair pen unscrew your insertion needle out and shake the lighter dry.

Take an hair pen, strip the ends, unscrew your insertion needle and shake your lighter until a fluid is out and dry.

Maybe you should use an hair pen to unscrew lighter and shake the fluid out after bumping an old thread.
