Something with a 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 screen.

Is a "second generation" Core i3/5/7 one without the Sandy Bridge issues?

This would be the closest thing to what you are looking for - but it has a 1600 x 900 screen. There's not a 13" screen sporting a 1920 x 1080 screen anywhere . . . unless you're gluing 4 smartphones together.

Awwww hell. I guess just what my general options are? Man, lappy resolutions are in such a sad state. 1366x768 for everything is so piss poor.

Well if your price range is $900+ there are some options out there. It just all depends on what you need. (besides resolution)

The Asus N53SV-SX1 is a 15.6" laptop with a i7 Sandy Bridge with 1920x1080 resolution...Amazon had it for $1050 before the Sandy Bridge issue and they took the product page down...seems to have pretty good specs (bang olfusson speakers, USB 3.0, eSata, 4 Ram slots)...

Should be available pretty soon now with the fixed motherboards...

The Sony Z has a Core i3 and a 1920*1080 screen, it is 13" and lightweight.

It starts at $1800 IIRC

low 5 lbs is about the lightest ~15" laptop you can find

13 inch Air can do 1440 x 900. This would look great on a 13" since thats a res that is very popular with 19" screens. Its respectable for a 13" really. And being an Air it is ultra portable... 2.9 pounds.

Ya, there are upgrade options on the Vaio Z for a 1920x1080 screen, with cost of the upgrade at only like $35 (on top of the really high cost of the Z in the first place).

Yes, 13" z is 3.1lb, 900p or beautiful 1080p screen and up to i7 (dual core version) I believe. It has an internal optical as well. 1080p with i5 models go for $2500+ online.

Eventually, there'll be a Sandy Bridge refresh.

Maybe try looking for a closeout bargain on a toshiba portege R700. Cpu options from i3 to i7, which determine the price. Lower screen resolution and quality than the mbp but it weighs a full pound less and costs a lot less too. Downside is it uses the older cpus, not sandy bridge (yet), but that might make the price better too.
