Lighted keyboard?

I?m looking for a keyboard that can be used in complete darkness... something with translucent keys and a backlight (preferably red) that will light up just the letters. I?ve tried clip on lights, but they?re not real convenient - I need something a little more passive (and durable) that?ll work in all lighting environments without user intervention. I think I saw some commercial with a keyboard like that on TV the other day... any ideas?

Hey great link! But for a DIYer, try the flex-keyboards @ PlyCon & get that mod-kit for lights beneath your keys... No more water-proofing I guess :)

or you could try learning to touch type ;) (beat me to it:p)

Where exactly are you using the keyboard? Doesn't your monitor throw any light onto it in the darkness?

That's basically what I'm looking for... however, their web site says "Watch for details of when the Nite-Surfer Keyboard is scheduled to be launched" :( But for my use I?d still prefer a red color illumination instead of the eye-penetrating fluorescent green!

It's for a computer in an observatory that drives a telescope and CCD camera, so it?s not really typing per say, but more of hit F3, hit spacebar, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming!

just learn to type really good, that way if your light on your keyboard goes out, you will not be "in the dark" :)
