It is you who doesn't understand. I've assumed nothing. I know exactly what I'm talking about. If 60hz flicker gives you a headache, you must be getting a lot of headaches since your fluorescent lights are flickering your entire room at 60hz hmm?

No, because my walls aren't made of crt screens. It only occurs if a crt is set at a 60Hz refresh rate with fluorescent lighting in the room. It occurs because the light and crt are not Synchronized. It doesnt happen if the lights have electronic ballasts. (Many don't).

I replaced all my old bulbs with flourescents. For the most part, they're awesome.

I bought most at Lowe's...
Sylvania: Sometimes takes a few seconds to warm up and casts a very white light. The delay seems to be lessening as the bulbs age.
Bright Effects: Always turns on instantly, casts a yellowish light that is almost identical to an incandesent light. Cheaper than the Sylvania.

I bought some other vanity bulbs at Menard's. They suck. They're called "Feugh Electric" or something. They cast a nasty off white light and sometimes take a minute to warm up. I'd replace them, but I frankly don't care that much.

Then replace the CRT with an LCD... Problem solved!! :)

Your best bet is to run another 20 amp circuit and put the treadmill, refrigerator and microwave on it. The fridge and/or treadmill draw a lot of startup amps that can cause the breaker to trip when other items are on.

Any other fix would be incorrect and rudimentary at best. Your lighting is mostly a personal choice and unless you have a huge amount of lighting, you will not notice much difference in power savings vs equipment/ bulb costs.

All of this can be calculated with the appropriate formulas. The equipment is all labelled as per power consumption.
