light 500$ notebook

Hi, I'm looking to buy a thin 'n light notebook. used/refurbished is fine as long as it has something like a 1-year warranty. Is it possible to get one for 500$? It doesn't need to be fast.. like a p3 600 Mhz would work fine. but light would be great (<5 lbs). cd can be external or internal... this is for my mom who will only be using it for stuff like microsoft word. It does need to have USB though. any thoughts?
 
Might want to check out the IBM X20. They came with P3 600's, but you'd need to get an external cd, and it does have usb. Very small and light machine, I've been looking at them on eBay, they go for under $500.
