You don't need lots of CPU power if you/your users do not need to transcode. I have users from far away streaming high bit rate 4k content with zero transcoding. CPU doesn't flinch.

I have plex streamed to my family on tablets and phones.
So there is no phone which is truely 4k, hence its always transcoding.
And i have started to slowly upgrade my library to 4k content.

Also as i stated, i love plex in the ability to find foreign subtitles, but they are all SMI.
SMI requires transcoding, while SRT does not.
 
I bought this several years ago on sale and have no regrets. When I set up our media server, Plex just seemed to be the best integrated and feature rich across all devices.
