Lifers you've never heard of

Some lifers start a lot of threads. I've got 8000 posts and other than fs/ft rarely start a thread. So 99.8% of my posts don't get read.

I've noticed that there doesn't even need to be a name change for me to not recognize someone... just chage the avatar and I'm like... who's that? lol

I remember you! 😀

I just don't care, because 10,000 posts here probably makes someone more stupid than anything.
Well, as somebody with well over 10,000 posts I must be pretty stupid. :Q

I used to be here a lot years ago. I took a break and now I'm kind of back. I'll post when I have some free time.

A lot of them you don't recognize because of name changes.

Doesn't seem likely. It's like that guy AmusedOne. Boy, he just disappeared and was never heard from again. I still think Moonbeam murdered and ate him.

I dont see how people can reach lifer without ATOT.

My big push for Lifer was in Distributed Computing. It wasn't a concious push or anything, I simply abandoned ATOT for a long time and was posting exclusively in that area. It really was its own little community, particularly around the times of the big crunching wars between TeAm AnandTech and DSLReports.

We often had threads in there that by rights should have been in other areas of the forums, but since a lot of the people offering help and advice never set foot outside of the DC forum, it was allowed. As long as things didn't get out of hand, of course. 😉

i would expect there's a fair number of people like me who don't post too often, but have been around a while, and don't start many threads. we've accumulated posts over the years without attracting too much attention with any big scandals or long-drawn-out flame wars.

Meh, there are lifers I don't know at all. I actually remember you. I mean, I haven't talked to you a lot, but you're far from the most obscure lifer...

Yea its because they dont actually know anything about tech, they stay in off-topic or politics & news. I pondered on the same thing a while ago and thats the conclusion i came to.
