Why does everything stats-wise show negative numbers and everyone was knocked back? This morning mine showed me at 49,901, but DC Monitor on my machine shows 50,571. Was there a problem with some of the WU's or is LM screwing up?

I'm trying to get an answer to this also. I lost about 30 units yesterday. I did notice however all three of my machines were working on the north american white tailed rabbit for what seemed like a very long time, is this normal?

reading through some of the discussions on the Lifemappers board isn't exactly boosting my confidence in the team working behind the scenes at Lifemappers... Lost stats, neglected processes, bugs in the clients... I think I may jump ship, before I contribute too much time, and do another Distributed project guys.

Sorry :(

Hey JoeKing, plz feel free to do the DC project you feel most comfortable with.

But let me say this, Lifemapper came from having a very unstable buggy client, to where it is today, a great almost perfect client, great stats, great support, the LM stuff interact with the members, and requests are met, like me and others asked for more frequent stats than 2 times a day, and it was increased to 4 times a day. The main LM admin quit his job recently and a new admin had to take up where was left off. He's still learning, but problems are looked into when they occur and fixed almost the same day.

One thing that bothers me is that if a big projects like SETI classic has a server outage for a day, or stats are not updating, it is discussed, but nobody talks about leaving because of it...

I enjoy running Lifemapper, and will do so for a very long time to come.

Yes the stats are way screwed, look at Condor_fdc that person is showing a -7099 and it appears that I'm missing about 2216 work units now. :frown:

Don't give up so easy JoeKing, this is the first time since I started running Lifemapper in March or April 2004 that they have had this problem with lost units. Also as a team we have come a very long way in a short amount of time and we're aiming for the top spot so hang in there and don't give up. :D

next to running seti (with seti queue in tow) this has been the best client i have run and i will continue to stick by this project as long as the staff communicates with the participants and we arent losing any results. this really is the best running project ive been a part of. much more stable than others!

Alright, I'll wait it out a few days. It's just very dicouraging to seemingly take two step back for every step you take (talking about units here). Lets hope they fix these problems soon... or get more than two people working behind the scenes.

Lm is a great project as the others have stated. The admins are hard working and open to changes.I have been running it off and on since april (being a member of the ra I chose to help get us over the 200000 wu mark and pulled my machines over there) but lm has my heart as well.

It has a user base thats small but hardworking, and we work well together. And I think you will find all projects have issues at times...you are free to choose which project you want to run, but what ever you decide we will keep the light on for you :p

BTW, If anyone took my earlier post wrong, I'm not giving up on Lifemapper and also not b*tching. I was just wondering what was going on, and Johan steered me to the page I needed to read(thanks borg).

JoeKing, as you can probably tell.... Silverthorne and I have been crunching lots of WU's for Lifemapper. This is really the only time that I have had any kind of problem with this project. Most everyone on the TeAm is satisfied with it being a very stable and reliable client.

I would tell you to give it a try for a while and then decide if it's for you. All the DC projects have had their problems, and as far as I can tell, this one has had the least amount of them.

As Wolfsraider said, you are free to try out the other projects, and the light will always be on for you here.

Thanks for the steerage Johan, at least it explained what's going on.
