I've debating as to whether I should be posting it here, but here it goes....

In september '23 I lost my best friend through 28 years. He died at the age of 44. He had a blood clot in the heart and went into a coma for three weeks, from which he never woke. It turned out his veins were completely calcified.

We went to high school together and we have held holidays together, been close with each other's families, travelling, going to concerts and planning to be grumpy old men together. While were living in different parts of the country, we were three guys from high school meeting every week to play online and talk, as you do with your eldest buddies. Now we are only two, and that really REALLY sucks :(

Because of this tragic event another friend went to the doctor to get a checkup, because he had some similar symptoms, being out of breath etc. He left the doctor in an ambulance rushed to the hospital, where he got a triple bypass immediately, as it turned out he was also just waiting for a clot to happen.

So maybe in a weird way the death of my friend saved another man's life, and I think he would have liked that. But I do wish I still had my best friend....

It has been almost half a year and life continue for us the living, and with three small kids and a loving wife there is seldom time for boredom, and as it turns out I'm going to be a father once again in september. :)

Life can be unfair and cruel so remember to fill it with as much love as you can. That is at least what I'm trying...

My BFF had a heart attack a few years back too, not even 50 years old, but he got a stent and some meds and he's doing alright now. Unhealthy lifestyle including decades of heavy smoking (he's quit a few years ago now, had switched to vaping, but stopped that after the heart attack too). Congrats on the oncoming child, hope you're feeling up for another addition! :D

My kids are grown and on their own, and I became a grandparent a couple weeks ago. I like the freedom of not having kids around, I go to concerts all the time and am finally really focusing on making my own music.

Condolences biostud. Seems awfully young for two people to have a serious condition like that. Maybe I'm out of touch with how young it can happen. I don't worry about my heart much. I'll probably be getting cancer. My doctor(the higi health station at the grocery store) always says my blood pressure's ok.

I have a couple of buddies I've grown distant from for a variety of life reasons outside of actually disliking each other.

Should make it a point to reach out to them and just say hi.

- BioSTUD indeed. Congrats, two is more than enough for me...
