What are some lessons life has taught you? Everyone takes some lumps now and again, and all you can really do is learn from the experience. Hopefully you get the message the first time so you dont have to learn it again...and again.
Today I learned two very simple lessons, that I will take way more seriously from now on: when you have an errand to run, take a look at some of the details, and READ THE FUCKING CONTRACT.
This lesson came in today at a little under a third of my yearly tuition: $900. Turns out I couldn't cancel my meal plan (already knew that), but apparently I cant change it for something better and more suitable either. Had I come in on the 9th, things wouldn't suck so hard. Now, didn't really 'lose' the $900, its just $900 of really shitty food, and nobody I know manages to use it all. The average is about half.
Thankfully I was able take back $250 because one of the clerks (who wasnt a tired old wench who pretty much told me to GTFO) informed me I could "downgrade" and basically get $250 of credit to use at my discretion. Took what I could and left.
Surprisingly I'm not too mad, because I can really only blame myself. Sure, the meal plan people here are greedy bastages, but I knew that and should have acted faster. Thankfully its an easy letdown and not something more catastrophic (aka, my friend missing the first day of lab, and as a result he wasted lots of money and has to take it next semester, which means he cant really take chem2 lab with chem 2...pretty much he just bought another semester of time because he wanted to sleep in).
