"Life isn't fair!"

MAW, you are not saying you think life IS fair right? Because there are millions of examples why it isn't. I'm not sure that's what you're saying though.

Now if you are saying life CAN be fair, then yes it is theoretically possible. Many thousands of years into the future perhaps. Of course we have a lot of work to go before that happens.

What if I think life can be fair?

Fair is a human concept - I see it as survival of the fittest, fair does not exist.

"Survival of the fittest" works on an evolutionary timescale. Not on the scale of a lifetime. Let's take two tigers. One is strapping and healthier. Another is weaker and sickly. A tornado kills the first tiger, but not the second. The second has not had a tornado kill it, but had a tornado hit it, it would have died too. The fittest has not survived here. It's pure chance for the second tiger. And yet it's genes pass on. Only evolution over millions of years can compensate for random variable like these. And even then, it only compensates.

life by itself isn't fair (it's sheer chance, which means the "morally high" person/position may fail), but PEOPLE can be fair and even kind to make up for nature.

"Life is not fair"
This is a statement that is said over and over again by those that have been sucessfull in life not because they are superior but because of their heritage, just another way to keep the lowest on the economic ladder at the bottom.

Crimson,

You have possibly categorized Bleep's statement. Can you counter it? Try and go beyond simple categorization and engage the discussion.

Define Life. Life is what's beyond your control or Human control. It is disease, the weather, and other Natural occurances. Civilization is based not on Life, but on the concept of Fairness. Civilization is a fabrication of Humanity that attempts to escape the limitations of Life. Civilization is based on making Life Fair.

Life isn't fair, but it can be good. You have to make it that way, and it hasn't anything to do with money or toys. If you can be who you think you ought to be, you can enjoy life in a meaningful way.
