If you can put up with the terrible drivers and the occasional downpour of rain, you're in for quite a treat at many of the awesome restaurants in the downtown area. In fact, Vancouver in general is on of my favorite places in western US/Canada for sushi, thai and fine dining overall.

I live in mtl, and its pretty sweet.

Id say 1 outa every 2-3 people doesnt speak french, so french wont be a problem.

living expenses is pretty cheap compared to most big citys.

VERY ACTIVE CITY with lots of festivals and partys all the time.

Cheap hookers.

Cheap booze, Cheap pot.

EXPENSIVE car insurance.

Pretty Liberal place.

lots of races.

did i mention the hookers? oh and the 10$ laptop dances (oh there contact too 😛)
