For me it's mostly for tie downs and such like for tarps etc, although at some point I want to get some climbing gear too and at that point I'll make sure to ask whoever I'm buying from for the proper rated rope. That store looks interesting definitely bookmarking that.

Daisychain. That's actually a useful technique for rope. Not necessarily a whole length, but you can do stuff like a build a shock absorber into a line, use as a knot that's easy to untie after loading, or take up slack. I use it most often to finish off a coiled rope. You can see it here...

The daisy chain allows you to only release as much cord as you need. I first started using it about 50 years ago.

The video is 7 minutes and did not want to watch the whole thing so I skimmed through it. First of all I thought he was telling you to serpentine up the hill, and thought of that reminded me of this incredible scene from The In Laws.
