License Suspension Question

If you have your license revoked or suspended do they ACTUALLY take your license away from you? If they do then how would you have any form of identification?

Yes, they physically take it from you. You can apply for a state ID card or use a passport if you already have one.

I had it suspended for 30 days once for a 100+mph speeding ticket. The court took the license and I had to get a state ID. At the end of the 30 days, I got it back in the mail.

Most states will take your license away although a few only suspend your right to drive & let you keep it as ID.

You don't have any legal identity after your licenses is suspended.

As a fun side effect, you can go and commit any crime and the police won't be able to press charges because they won't know who you are.

This is how super villains like Dr. Octopus, Joker, Freddy Krueger, Bill Gates, etc are able to commit so many crimes without ever being tried and convicted.

arizona must be one of those states... or this is a new thing. in my younger, more stupid days i had 10 different suspended driving incidents and kept it physically each time.

Georgia used to take your license any time you got a ticket. Fortunately they stopped that several years ago. They would actually staple your license to their copy of the ticket. If you got pulled over in the future, the cop would see instantly that you'd had a previous ticket because of the holes in your license, and there was virtually no chance of getting out of it at that point.

It's taken away....you get anothe rpaper id card but no picture. It sucks for buying alcohol so i can keep up with my habit. Or even gun shells for that matter.

Your thumbs are going to match your drivers license, which you can't legally have anymore. So they have no choice but to let you go free.

It's a messed up system but thats the law.

Uh, no. It's not.

If it's the state in which you reside, then yes you get it taken away. In a different state, you only lose our privileges to drive in that state but keep your license. I've had a judge give me "till high noon to get across the state line" before 🙂

Having a sense of humor was also required in that bill.
