Have it display random license plate numbers, except for when you get pulled over, then have it display the correct number.

That's too honest....What's the point of having your real one displayed when you get pulled over? It'd be cooler to display plates of cars just like yours and then run every time you were getting pulled over, haha.

No it don?t' work but got another question, do we have a law that say that a car must be clean, no right? So can't we have really dirty licenses plate to the point that is unreadable? Or some what readable but enough unreadable that you can't get a ticket.

Red light cameras only ticket people that SHOULD get tickets, ie if your car crosses the STOP LINE AFTER the light is red. A yellow light is to CLEAR THE INTERSECTION. It DOES NOT mean to STOP! You will NOT get a ticket in the mail from an automated traffic enforcement device by running a yellow light!!! A trick that some municipalities employ (that's very unfair IMHO) is they shorten the yellow so by the time the front of your vehicle is at the stop line, the light is indeed red and click-click...a $75 picture of your license plate. :|

You can read more about red light cameras here.

The LCD idea will work but if you get caught, expect a thorough inspection of your car and yourself by crotch sniffing canines!

Well, I considered that, but how are you going to find other cars just like yours? And how do you know they don't already have outstanding warrants?

Oh, and I forgot about having to show your registration to the cop... which wouldn't match the plates.

No, it doesn't work... we had what's called photoradar back about 10 years ago, that automatically took a photographic shot of your license plate if you were caught speeding, then you were mailed the ticket and picture of your plate. There were a lot of scams out there of 'sprays' that blurred your plate if a shot was taken... of course none of it worked.

I see a lot of cars with lenses and covers that look clean. Its illegal in NY, but only an equipment violation. You take it off and go to a police station to show them, and its dismissed. I might go that route. Thanks for the responses.
