Make sure you comb all the nits..you leave just one and you have lice again. Also bag up all
stuffed animals, pillows, etc...lice wont survive so within 24 hours they will die.

And dont go crazy scratching your head thinking you have lice.

im washing everything! pillows, stuffed animals, clothes..

6 year old had a bunch of live ones and a crap load of eggs. 4 year old had one live one and not very many eggs... that we could find...

Shave your head and the heads of your family.

Then post a new family photo.

Yep. There's a minimum length of hair they need to create a warm enough of an environment to support them. A short haircut will help. And a metal nit comb is worth the money; much better than the plastic combs that come in the kits. Through no fault of your own, she'll probably get them again at some point. Girls just love to trade clothes, have slumber parties, etc.

pro tip! lice can survive a hot wash in bleach and soap! WTF!

ran a hot wash load with bleach and opened up the towel we used on him while cleaning and one of the little fuckers was sitting there trying to crawl away!

im guessing the hot dryer does a better job.

get a super fine comb and go through it all, boys are easy to do this with, girls are way harder. Also you can do and olive oil treatment. Saturate the hair in olive oil and put a shower cap on or use a plastic bag overnight. Added benefit is that your hair is super soft and conditioned.

Hot dryer everything. Clip off hairs that have nits.

Eww I hate lice... first week of school there was a note sent home with my daughters class saying they found lice on some kid and be sure to check your kids carefully... I was like FFFFFUUUUUU! Makes me just itchy thinking about it. This is at a fairly expensive private school, I guess lice like the 1% just as well as the 99% :p

Boys? Brushcuts. Boys look just fine with brushcuts & it'll make it harder for reinfection to occur (if you only succeed at 99.5% in getting rid of them.)

I don't see the big deal about having lice. :|

I'm guessing that might have something to do with you never having to deal with them? Never have I met anyone who fought those lil bastards and thought it was a breeze.

Having to drop everything so you can spend the next 24hrs treating, washing, and vacuuming everything in your house is hardly a picnic. Don't know about the rest of you, but being forced to do 12 consecutive loads of laundry puts a cramp in my day and does indeed qualify as a big deal. I work too much to spend my day off chasing vermin dagnabit.
