Looks like The Colonel thinks using bullets, aircraft and tanks against his own people is not enough. He has whipped out the knives and has begun going door to door slicing up innocents with machetes.

Libya’s ambassador to China resigned during a live broadcast on Al Jazeera, claiming that President Muammar Gaddafi’s sons may have gotten into a gunfight. One of them, the ambassador said, may have been wounded. And that Gaddafi may have fled to Venezuela.

Libya's Muammar Gaddafi used tanks, helicopters and warplanes to fight a growing revolt, witnesses said on Tuesday, as the veteran leader scoffed at reports he was fleeing after four decades in power.

Two Libyan fighter jets landed in Malta on Monday. The pilots reported that they had been ordered to bomb Libya’s second-largest city, Benghazi, the cradle of the six-day-old uprising. But the pilots chose to defect instead.

After a televised speech by Colonel Qaddafi, in which he vowed to track down and kill protesters — whom he called cockroaches — “house by house,” thousands of his supporters had converged in the city’s central Green Square on Tuesday night, wearing green bandannas and brandishing large machetes.
Many loaded into trucks headed for the outlying areas of the city, where they occupied traffic intersections and appeared to be massing for neighborhood-to-neighborhood searches.
“It looks like they have been given a green light to kill these people,” one witness said.
