Looks like The Revolutions of 2011 might be shifting into high gear, even Qaddafi might be under pressure.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/20/us-protests-idUSTRE71F41K20110220
Members of a Libyan army unit said they had defected and "liberated" the country's second city from forces loyal to veteran leader Muammar Gaddafi after scores of protesters were killed in the bloodiest revolt now shaking the Arab world.

Hope we see another dictator fall and Libya's people gain their freedom.

Update
Libya's diplomat to China resigns, says one of his sons shot the other and that The Colonel has fled the country.
http://reportergary.com/?p=7659
Libya’s ambassador to China resigned during a live broadcast on Al Jazeera, claiming that President Muammar Gaddafi’s sons may have gotten into a gunfight. One of them, the ambassador said, may have been wounded. And that Gaddafi may have fled to Venezuela.

Update 2
*Looks like parts of Update 1 were false, The Colonel has not left Tripoli's franchise and has expanded his effort to fry his own flock using aircraft, tanks and bullets
*Libyan government officials are resigning (including the diplomats to America and China)
*soldiers / officers are defecting after being instructed to slaughter innocents

http://www.salient-news.com/2011/02/unrest-libya-pilots-defect-officials-resign/
Libya's Muammar Gaddafi used tanks, helicopters and warplanes to fight a growing revolt, witnesses said on Tuesday, as the veteran leader scoffed at reports he was fleeing after four decades in power.
"I resign from serving the current dictatorship regime. But I will never resign from serving our people until their voices reach the whole world, until their goals are achieved," Ambassador Ali Aujali
Two Libyan fighter jets landed in Malta on Monday. The pilots reported that they had been ordered to bomb Libya’s second-largest city, Benghazi, the cradle of the six-day-old uprising. But the pilots chose to defect instead.

Update 3
Soldiers refusing to follow orders from The Colonel to slaughter innocents are being burned alive. See the video linked in a reply below (too graphic to place in OP).

Update 4 (Zebo)
Looks like The Colonel thinks using bullets, aircraft and tanks against his own people is not enough. He has whipped out the knives and has begun going door to door slicing up innocents with machetes.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/24/world/africa/24libya.html?_r=1
After a televised speech by Colonel Qaddafi, in which he vowed to track down and kill protesters — whom he called cockroaches — “house by house,” thousands of his supporters had converged in the city’s central Green Square on Tuesday night, wearing green bandannas and brandishing large machetes.

Many loaded into trucks headed for the outlying areas of the city, where they occupied traffic intersections and appeared to be massing for neighborhood-to-neighborhood searches.

“It looks like they have been given a green light to kill these people,” one witness said.

Update 5
Over 1,000 people dead since the start of protests.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/23/us-libya-protests-idUSTRE71G0A620110223
Muammar Gaddafi's attempts to crush a revolt against his four-decade rule have killed as many as 1,000 people and split Libya, Italy's Foreign Minister said on Wednesday.

I would like to know why the UN has time to meet about Israel but there is virtual silence about Libya. Escpecially Gaddafis killing of all those funeral mourners.

Maybe because Libya was head of the UN security council 2 years ago? What a joke.

Not sure if true due to the news blackout in Libya right now:
http://reportergary.com/?p=7659

“We are working to ascertain the facts, but we have received multiple credible reports that hundreds of people have been killed and injured in several days of unrest – and the full extent of the death toll is unknown due to the lack of access of international media and human rights organizations.

If this is true, I wonder if the other son is running the country or if elements of the military are in charge or if it all is about to plunge into anarchy.

And then there's this gem:

A communiqué from Anonymous concerning events in Libya.
Anonymous | 19 February 2011:
Free Citizens of the World:
For a long time the people of Libya have suffered under the madness of their ruler, Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi, and his government. For too long, the people of Libya have suffered in silence. In the recent Tunisian and Egyptian uprisings, fear has vanished from Arabs all over the region. It is time to be silent no more.
Despite the efforts of the regime to send in mercenaries, cut off land communications, and ban their populations from getting the truth, the people of Libya have stood up to claim what is their human birthright: Freedom.
Anonymous is willing to bring its help to the brave people of Libya. Anonymous declares by this statement its engagement with them in the common goal. We, the people, will not remain silent while dictators fire upon their citizens. We, the people, will not remain inactive while the powerful crush peaceful claims with violence.
The time of dictatorship regimes is over. The time of oppression has come to an end. We, the people, will walk fearless towards the global goal. Anonymous sends this message to the Libyan people: You are not alone. The world is once again watching. Your brothers and sisters are watching. Anonymous extends its arms to you in solidarity at your time of struggle. Together, we will achieve what you are fighting for and Mankind will be free at last.
We are Anonymous.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.

The government has already lost a major city, Benghazi. Many Libyan ambassadors are resigning and so has the justice minister. Some army units are defecting. Most importantly, a major tribe has defected and has reportedly joined the protestors. It's only a matter of time before that clown is deposed.

Go dig up Reagan then so he can unleash some more F-111's on him again.

Assuming of course we can find some 111's to get airborne.

they want the murdering scum bags from Club G'itmo..so why not??

My God man, ignoramuses like you are the world's greatest problem.

That "murdering scumbag from Gitmo" is due to be released because there is no evidence he committed a crime. He is one of the many vacuumed up from the battlefield when the US military was paying Afghans to turn in "terrorists" - hence many innocent bystanders were detained. And now he fears returning to his country, one of the repressive central Asian former Soviet republics, due to potential political discrimination. Berkley offered to accept him, as the Administration is looking for somewhere to send him.

typical ACLU default argument they have argued across the board. Just plug in place/event/litigant and issue.

The UN is still virutally silent about this situation. iI bet if there were Jews running libya, they would meet almost immediately for a vote to condemn.

The bastard only has 1 city left under his control, his reign is basically over and he is a walking dead. Yet still he orders the military loyal to him to fire at his own people.

Not that it is our business, genocide isn't anyone's concern if it doesn't involve Israel.
UN - I laugh at thee.
