LibreOffice (portable) - slow startup

I have OpenOffice 3.2 on a Win 7 system. It starts up in 1-2 seconds.
I then tried with LibreOffice 3.4.4 Portable and it takes about 10 seconds (from the same drive).

Does the non-portable LO start faster or are they the same?

I should probably also mention I don't have JRE and don't even plan on installing it. But LO does complain about it, if only on the first run.

My OpenOffice on Windows 7 takes close to 10 seconds to start, but that is because I have it set not to load at system startup. This is done via Open Office Tools menu > Options > OpenOffice.org item > Memory > Load OpenOffice.org during system startup. If I have it set to load at startup then it will start in under 2 seconds. When it is set to load at startup it doesn't display and you won't know it is doing it other than the slower startup time and the faster time to start the application.

The default is to load during system startup. I turned that off to reduce system startup time which is a better option for me as I do a system startup daily but use OpenOffice weekly or less.

I don't know if there is a similar option in either LibreOffice version to load at startup.

Well, I then installed the regular LO and it starts significantly faster. Why, I'm not sure. (It's not because of the "quick start" in the regular LO, because I didn't even install that.)
I think there's simply something "wrong" with LO Portable.
