Remember tolerance is not acceptance. Other moderators will not have my POV, but we treat each other respectfully. What I really wish for isn't conformity, but civility here.

Again we could crack down on things so that everyone would be gone. Of what value would that be?

Of this I completely understand. It is why when I started posting here I brought up Ad Hominem attacks in the Issues forum (and got a response that I just can't fathom... members can be targets of ad hominem attacks, moderators can not). I believe there is a way to properly debate and I know there unacceptable ways of debating. I do not understand why this forum can not address this and issue some stern warnings and eventually ban those who can not remain civil to each other.

Anywho, on topic... Phokus, I am sorry your manager was an ass to you. I understand that there are vocal idiots on both sides of the political spectrum, I hope you at least acknowledge it is not one sided especially in higher education.

Well, until 'liberal' universities start banning republicans from free speech/freedom of assembly, i don't know why you guys are comparing apples to oranges.

You mean like this attempt to price them out?

Or this example?

Not even close to banning a political group outright, nice try though.

Ofcouse you'll whine about some portion of that but it doesn't matter. You'd have to be a fool to not understand that Conservatives and Conservative groups have had many problems at colleges around the nation due to asinine speech codes, bylaws, or other such nonsense.

I have to say that this thread is one of the best examples of how malicious thought isn't restricted to any party, and why it's not likely that humanity will never develop further.

Sorry, but asking to insert non-discrimination clauses (OH THE HORROR!) into your by-laws is nothing compared to saying you can't exist by the president or vice president of the university. I'm guessing the democratic club had no problem with that, which probably says more about the republican club than anything else and confirms many people's suspicions that conservatives are biggots.

And they didn't believe in what the university wanted them too so they were removed - no different than the example in the op where the group does not believe in what the college wanted them too. You'd have to be a blind partisan fool to not see the similarities in the examples I've posted... oh wait - it's phokus so "blind partisan fool" is implied...

Actually, if you read my link, the democratic group on liberty university was anti-abortion and anti-same sex marriage so in terms of the hot button social conservative issues, there was very little in what liberty university could complain about in having the democratic student group there:

http://rawstory.com/08/news/20...-bans-democratic-club/

The group?s staff adviser, Maria Childress, told the paper, ?His bottom line was, ?You can?t be a Democrat and be a Christian and be a university representative.??

Ironically, the group opposes abortion and same-sex marriage ? but that wasn?t enough for Liberty University officials.

They basically don't want democrats there NO MATTER WHAT THEIR VIEWS ARE.

That's infinitely more heinous than requiring non-discrimination in your by-laws (THE HORROR!)

And besides, a townhall column? PLease, like that would give us an unbiased side of the story  The liberty university vp basically said he doesn't want a democratic group to officially exist in their university.

lol, like I said- you'd find something to whine about...

Anyway, just because the group has some similar views- it did not have all - which is similar to the Conservative group who had some ok views but didn't believe the same as the college - especially when forced to adopt some lame thought control "diversity" crap.

Finding heavy handed liberal incidents on college campi is not hard...unless you are a blind partisan twit... again...oh wait...

Also, you whining about townhall when posting rawstory? puhleeze.

You do realize the original story was an AP story right? The VP pretty much proudly announced it, it's not controversial to him whatsoever. So we can basically include non-discrimination along with abortion and high taxes that conservatives find appalling. You don't know for a fact that including 'non-discrimination' into the republican by-laws was an attempt to get rid of them. However, i'm pretty sure the "Liberty" U's VP saying that a democratic student group can't be an official group at the university is. What are you, like 0-5 or something cad? Non-discrimination, the republican's nightmare.

democratic party violates the school's principles by supporting abortion, socialism and the agenda of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people.

WTF does socialism have to do with Christianity? Are there any specifics in the bible about it? (honest question)

Private univ can do whatever they want, but it's pretty bad PR, imo. Anyway, what would stop the students from privately forming their own off-campus club? I mean...who's gonna check up on the club's official affiliation with the univ if someone puts it on their resume?

Funny thing is, early in American history, lots of christians were socialists, especially during the gilded age.
