Libertarian Purity Test

Having seen Tokyo Gore Police I had to answer "no" to "Should police be privatized?" -- the results weren't quite what I'd hoped for.

This test goes into crazy nutbar levels of anarchy, so I'm not too disappointed to only score a 19.
 
I stopped after the first 10 questions because they are far to vague. "Are zoning laws to strict?" is far to vague for me to answer. Obviously the simple yes no is intended to mean "are you for or against zoning laws." but the situations are more dynamic than the questions.
 
I scored 22.

I favor legalization of drugs, gambling and prostitution. I think government spending should be cut. I think the US should reduce it's foreign military presence.

That's as far as I can go towards libertarian ideology though, and I certainly wouldn't call myself a libertarian.
 
I got a 21. Not until I took this test did I realize how insane Libertarians are. At least the hard core ones.

I also felt that alot of the questions should not have been yes or no- in some situations you would answer yes, in other situations you would answer no.

That's because you're not "pure" enough -- it's black-and-white! 100% of government services are EEEVIL! Even national defense should be privatized with Blackwater!

Yeah, but all the crazy things would need a vast libertarian conspiracy to get accomplished.

I still think that'd be a better vast conspiracy than what we have now. I can imagine what the people would say though, "They're trying to gives us too much freedom, how can we be safe with that?"
 
I now suggest the real question we should all be asking, " Namely is your libertarian purity test score inversely proportional to your intelligence quotient?

If nothing else there is a huge body of scientific work regarding standardizing various IQ tests, but I very much doubt there is doodly squat in terms of libertarian purity tests.
 
82. There were some I wanted to answer yes to, but they were far too vague/broad for me to do so. In the 5 pointer section I only answered yes to "Is all government inherently evil?" and "Is it morally permissible to exercise "vigilante justice," even against government leaders?". The others were far too hardcore for a moderate fair-minded libertarian such as my self. ()🙂

And WTF are "judge-made law, arbitration, and other private rule-suppliers"? Really, "private rule-supplier"? Unless they're talking about HOA-style private regulation that's ridiculous. And I don't see how judges mandating laws is a more "libertarian" system of governing than having semi-democratic elected representatives.

Seriously... imagine the incredible corruption if police and national defense etc wre privatized with no regulation! People think corruption is bad now. Seems to me that Libertarians must have some unreal picture of people as innocent as lambs until they are governed..

LOL, I think Libertarianism is about our most misguided, ignorant view, so that's hardly accurate. That's 24/160, and some of those are questionable.

Like 'vigilante justice, even for leaders' - generally no, but for Hitler, so I said yes.
 
This looks like more Libertarian recruitment propaganda to try to get people to pay attention to the party that is better ignored.

They include some questions for everyone almost guaranteed to get yes answers - for fiscal conservatives, do we spend too much, do we tax too much; for liberals, does the US use military force intervening too much; for social liberals, should we legalize pot and marijuana, and so on - and then if you say yes to a handful out of 160, it says 'you have Libertarian leaning!'

Seems clearly designed to try to use 'identity politics' to try to get people to consider themselves more Libertarian and stop thinking of Libertarians as the crazies they are.

Why do you hate freedom so much, Craig? Is the idea of not having your life controlled by the government frightening to you; so much so that you believe those who seek liberty are the crazy ones?

No, the two mainstream parties are the ones that need to be ignored; along with the progressives, as they, just as you, so willing sell out every freedom for that imagined bit of security granted by the government, for those scraps of ostensibly equal prosperity doled out by your masters. You are the ones who need to be ignored; those who believe their party can do no wrong, and that all other solutions are evil and wrong. You are the ones who are crazy; crazy to throw your entire belief and trust and faith behind a government that is made of people. No matter how perfect your ideas may seem, they must ultimately be implemented by people - fallible people, who seek to grow their power, expand their influence. The only rational answer is to force the government to remain small; to set solid restrictions upon it, so that it may not grow beyond its bounds.

Your attempts to force equality will produce inequality. Your attempts to produce prosperity will result in ruin. And your attempts to create security will destroy the freedoms you pretend to care about.
 
I like to think of myself as holding some libertarian ideals, but I again I refuse to take this quiz. These questions are far to black and white to line up with any except the craziest of peoples opinions on the matter. Like I said earlier about the zoning question. It's loaded. The answer they want is yes because they believe there should be no zoning restrictions. If you answer the opposite they're saying you're ok with ALL zoning restrictions and that's false. How any of you could take this test and actually consider the results is bewildering to me.

Libertarians don't seem to understand that private organizations are not more efficient. I've had to deal with the government and I know how fucking retarded they are when trying to get anything done. I've also dealt with private insurance companies. They fuck around just as bad.

Another thing is that right now I'm trying to apply for a job at a local utility company, and it's basically impossible. Their website's application system absolutely does not work in any web browser. On the website it says "we only consider applications sent through our website". This is the kind of bullshit you would expect from a government agency, but this isn't the goverment. This is a private company. Privatizing shit like the post office won't help because it will be just as retarded as it is now.
