Liberals' Wet Dream Depicted in Super Bowl Ad...

I and many of my friends and family sort recyclables, use fluorescent lights, etc.. All of us are smart enough to realize that the ad was absurd on purpose.

Your idea of lots of people cheering is just as absurd.

I don't own a car. I bike. I use public transport. I walk. I recycle. I use CFLs as older bulbs die in the apartment. I try to eat at restaurants that don't serve items in plastic or Styrofoam.

Point is, I believe in the "green movement" as it applies to reducing waste and preserving limited resources.

I do this because I want to.

But I know there are many out in the movement who want this kind of Green Police. You can't deny that.

I hate to break it to you, but saving on energy costs is going to be around for a long time.

It has been proven time and time again the amount of energy saved for the initial cost of green appliances is not close to 1 to 1 after five years. You have to wait an average of 13 years to see the reduced cost pay for the appliance.

People will not gain traction with the Green movement until it is at least a 1 to 1 ratio.

What if we talked Sarah Palin into embracing the green movement,,,maybe even doing some green police commercials. How do you think that would go over? Heh. Heh.

There is a lake in Guatemala that is being destroyed by folk washing their clothes on the river banks in detergent and bleach. They are killing the source of their lives. But people insist on their personal rights to destroy all the life around them. They see folk who would stop them as Nazis.

You assume the full price of the appliance need be considered.
I recently needed a new washing machine. I purchased a front-loading machine that saves water and electricity over a similar-capacity top loader at only a slight premium in price.
I start saving as soon as I recoup the price difference, not the full purchase price.

I though this was a very poor commercial aside from any political slant. It was like watching a gang of proctologists abducting and ass-fingering people while at the same time advertising a car that will get you to your colonoscopy appointment faster.

This. We too bought a front-loader, and payback over a similar conventional is less than three years at our modest loading. There are also other factors, such as using less electricity and water means less coal and oil burned and longer times between grip upgrades (funded with rate hikes.) We bought a Korean-built Samsung, since American appliance companies seem to have abandoned quality along with American manufacturing plants. I used to swear by Whirlpool, but the last four Whirlpool appliances I've purchased have been crap. And they now own Maytag as well.

you sir, are an idiot

I thought the ad was stupid. Paper/Plastic part. Umm shouldn't it be asking if you brought your own bag(since its reuseable longer) then bust him for that?

and then the "cop" with the how you like your plastic water bottles now. Umm he's dumping out water though, should at least be watering plants. Its totally wasteful.

lol.. as soon as that ad came on I told my wife that some idiot wingnuts are going to be screaming about it and Al Gore on the intertards and/or Fox News.

Surprise surprise.. already on ATPN. We'll see tomorrow for Fox.

Was a bit of shock to see Palin's name come up before Obama's, and Gore's not until post 2. Would have lost the over/under on that one.

Aside from being lame, this is a commercial from a GERMAN car company. They can't help it, they just go Nazi on everything, even when they are trying to be good. Poor, poor Germans. 🙁

Least we didn't see anyone being shoved into a solar-powered oven and being baked at a moderately warm temperature (assuming its a sunny day) for flushing after they only took a piss.

I thought Audi shot itself in the foot with that ad. Very stupid of them. I thought it was a satire making fun of the green shit until I realized at the end they were being serious. I will now never buy an Audi.

Maybe it wasn't the best commerical, but I don't see how they shot themselves in the foot. They're targeting the hybrid crowd by showing them the green car of the year was a diesel.
