I agree with that other post a few back, the truth lies somewhere inbetween. I hardly think the coming of the Europeans was a blessing to Native Americans. Just the spread of disease alone killed much of the native population in horrific ways, even not counting events that europeans may have deliberately wrought upon them. There are many different tribes that don't even *exist* anymore.

The europeans also brought slavery (not to say no one else had done it), and when they failed to enslave indians (wiping out whole populations in the process), they brought over African slaves instead. Nice concept of justice they had.

And on the other hand, I'm sure native life wasn't always great and non-violent and that nasty and violent people came from that side too.
