Liberal sites drop gun control topic when shooter id was announced

Mother jones last night, just about every article on the homepage carousal was about gun control. This morning, there is not a single article in the carousal about gun control.

Huffpost, not even close to their typical antigun hysteria.

salon.com, not going anywhere near gun control topic.

Last night twitter was on fire with accusations of how white people can not be trusted with guns and how we need gun control. As soon as the shooters were id'ed as middle eastern things got real quiet.

Sure is funny how liberals are quick to jump on the gun control topic but will not touch home grown terrorism.

Regardless of where one stands on gun control, this is yet another instance in which someone (here, very possibly an Islamic fundamentalism with the intention of conducting an act of terrorism) legally bought and used battle rifles to commit a mass shooting. Certainly if one believes in gun control (I am ambivalent on the subject but absolutely believe in tweaking existing restrictions such that, for example, people on a terrorist no-fly list can't freely buy them, which they presently can), this is another strong argument for it.

Liberals did not drop gun control you twit. The shooting is a day old, I saw articles on multiple sites today about how the guns were obtained legally. Just because in the last few minutes none of the articles written were about gun control (you know, because most were written yesterday so do we need to follow up 18 hours later), doesn't mean it was dropped.

Initially the lefties were practically salivating with the idea of another "useful crisis" to further their gun control agenda. Then when it became clear the issue was a lot more complex than some lone crazy guy opening fire, they realized they need to re-think their strategy on how to use it to further the agenda. a staggering 80% of gun homicides are gang-related. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), gang homicides accounted for roughly 8,900 of 11,100 gun murders in both 2010 and 2011. That means that there were just 2,200 non gang-related firearm murders in both years in a country of over 300 million people and 250 million guns.
