These are pundits (editorial writers) with a job that allows bias. There is already a list of reporters, not editorialists, that shows a clear bias to the left. Anyone have that?

BTW, a non-random sample of 37, Marty? Come on, you can't see through that?

Sorry but first off this BOGUS study is of Collumists (EDITORIAL AND OPINION) and they are expected to provide a slant. The sample is also way to small.

I could make a study that 50 of sports reporters urinate off hotel balconies IF I have a sample of 2 and one of them is gary MIller.
 
I doesn't matter, IMO A liberal Columnist that is as whacked as a Nut Case Conservative Columnist is just as laughable. Not all liberal and not all conservative Columnists are whacked however. If you are upset by someone presenting a view point that makes you question your own views then you really shouldn't be reading Op Ed pieces anyway as it's a complete waste of time.. just like your opinion.
 
As a member of the media I'd say a majority of the people in the media have left-leaning view personally, but 99% of the time we strive hard not to show our personal views professionally.

I don't disagree with that, and i think the media as a whole generally does a good job in maintaining a relatively balanced presentation for the stories they present. However, therein lies some of the question... does a political bias of members of the media have an effect on what stories receive coverage, and which do not? This i think is a fair question to ask.

When [pick your favoriate] Jesse Jackson scandals broke out most of the media offered only the headlines and nothing at all in depth. Very interesting since the media is always ready to gun down anything related to the christain faith religion.

Media bias is present. Hell look at the 2000 elections...most of the TV networks gave FL to the democrats early and influenced the outcome. That's impartial?

Same here. I'm personally conservative, but I try not to skew things one way or the other.

I think that people can tell that I'm not happy when I read news about priests in Evansville mollesting people, and their archbishop saying that it's unfair to remove them.

Anyone who mollests a kid, or knows about it and does nothing needs to be shot. But I don't voice my opinion on air.

Yes, I think it does have some effect. Many reporters are basically given free-reign over what stories they write on. However, a GOOD editor will try and ensure that there are articles being written that cover all sides of a particular story, and assign reporters to stories they think are being passed over (perhaps unintentionally because of personal bias).

Think about the society we live in. Most people (>50%) don't care about Jesse Jackson one way or another. If they can't relate to the news, then they'll watch another station, costing the network ratings and as a result, revenue. There is no bias other than capitalism; the reporters report what will keep their network going.
 
all i know is that some people here were going to black out all info last presidential election and then check katie couric's facial expression the next morning to see who won.

You're obviously not a math major either, since you didn't realize that for a sample size of 37, there is not enough evidence that the proportion of republican-biased columnists is not 1/2.

Every cable news channel except FoxNews continues to give Jesse Jackson a pass on all of his wrongdoing. IMO this is due to JJ having close ties with the democrat party.

The media (except FOX) will relentlessly focus on scandals except those involving prominent demoratic figures. They'll still cover such incidents of course but without the same zest. That's bias. Not necessarily liberal bias but surely democrat bias.

I'm not ranting/whining btw, just stating reality.
