Libation for a newbie...

A friend of mine and I decided that it is time to get my roommate a little tipsy. He seems to be going along with it, but he really detests the flavor of alcohol.

Anything out there without an alcohol flavor for him to drink? We were leaning toward everclear an Kool-Aid.

Please remember that we do have minors who read this forum as well.

I don't drink anymore (burned out on it when I was a teenager) but when I did I only drank the sweet stuff. That is after I got tired of the hard stuff.

Gin and Sprite.....2 thumbs up. Just adjust the amount of Sprite to taste.

And a word of caution, not sure the mods really like alcohol related threads. And if they dont, my alter-ego posted this.

surfer on acid is good. Coconut rum, pineapple juice and jaegermeister, that's normally a shot. If you want a drink, get a vodka collins. When made right, you can't taste the alcohol. Vodka and sprite will work well too. I odn't like gin, that's why I suggest vodka.

The surfer on acid and vodka collins are better made in a bar. If you're gonna be at home, I suggest the alcoholic lemonades like Doc Otis or Mike's Hard Lemonade or Rick's Spiked Lemonade. You can't taste the alcohol at all. They have about as much as beer does, but you can't taste any alcohol. Also, A bottle of Boone's Strawberry Hill would be good. It's wine, but it's alcohol content is a little more than beer. Really sweet, wont taste it. Girls used to drink it in HS.

Snakebite--Yukon Jack Whiskey and Sour Mix. So sweet he won't know what hit him.

If you don't have sour mix, Yukon Jack and Mt. Dew is pretty good too.

In all seriousness, I think the Everclear is a bad idea, as there is a real danger of one or both of you dying from alcohol poisoning. I had a rather scary experience in high school when I tried drinking for the first time, and it came in the form of Bacardi 151. I would be careful about not giving him too much as well - I would say a max of 4-6 normal-sized drinks (depending on his size) should get him plowed without sending him to the hospital or the morgue.

Hehe yeah give him some Boones and then make fun of him for being a total wuss. That stuff tastes great but is hardly alcohol. Cheap though!

Newbie Drinker Special:

Rum Daquiri or for the more manly Frozen Margherita

If he hasn't done much drinking, then these will taste good and sneak up on him. You do not need to make them strong.

If you go with the Margherita and end up having more than three or four, be prepared for the rite of passage that is everyone's first bad experience with Tequila

Rum/Coke, Jack/Coke, Vodka/Coke.

You can adjust the alcohol/coke ratio until you can't taste it.

....also a Screwdriver (Oj/Vodka).

Be careful you don't over-do-it.

Drink if you like the taste, but drink to get drunk/tipsy = stupidity.
