You can't make this stuff up.

Miami lawyer’s pants catch fire while delivering closing arguments in arson case

At the time, the defence lawyer was arguing that his client’s car spontaneously combusted and wasn’t intentionally set on fire. The lawyer blamed an e-cigarette battery on the pants fire.

BTW, what is it with e-cig batteries? Does Samsung make them all or something?

The new update killed the avatar. I guess I'll have to reload it eventually.

Not liar liar, stunt stunt.

Guy is arguing that a fire could happen spontaneously and his pants just happen to ignite spontaneously? Bullshit. Totally rigged.

If that's rigged, I'd like to get him as my lawyer if I ever get into trouble. It seems he's willing to go as far as risking his own skin to win a case. Again, literally.

No shit! If that's the case I'd hire him in a heartbeat if I was in a jam.

Except that he was still convicted and the lawyer will likely lose his license to practice law as a result of this stunt.

You won't be able to hire him, he's going to be busy defending himself. He didn't risk anything, nobody saw what he was wearing under his clothes or how it was rigged up. Generally when batteries go off in the pocket the person gets hurt. This clown wasn't. It was a rigged stunt and inside a week we're going to hear about contempt of court charges being brought against the lawyer.

There has been no mention anywhere of this lawyer losing his licence over this.

It's being investigated, but the police have the burnt batteries in their possession now.

Haha. Goodness me. He had an e-cigarette battery in his pocket? The kind you put in Vapes? Why would he have it in his pocket? Yeah this could really be rigged.

No, not just the battery. He had an e-cig in his pocket.

It will take time. I've seen the process take years before discipline was finally handed down by the Florida Bar. If he gets charged with a crime it will speed the process up.
Yes such a disciplinary process takes years, but in this case your post makes little sense. If they have zero evidence this was a stunt, they won't be disciplining him for it obviously.

people buy the cheapest ones they can, which are junk Chinese knockoffs, just like those hover boards which catch fire, poor design and no voltage regulation when charging, causes overcharge which makes them short out and explode/catch on fire

Never put 18650s in a pocket without a case!
That's a cardinal battery rule. High current, low impedance cells for sub ohm vaping respond quickly to a short by venting which can be quite the fanfare of sparks, pretty pink flames. Both which are hot enough to sear human flesh in an instant.
