I have been shopping around for a new case for my upcoming build. There has been a wealth of information presented here in these forums. thanks to all. But........ can anyone explain as to why this case, is priced so much higher than comparable other cases. Same material, fans, air movement, etc... is it just the name or am I missing something here... cant really justifying putting out that kinda $ for a case...

its all about looks, and the quality is definitely good.
but i do agree they are a little bit expensive, but worth it

Bump. If you have ever worked with a Lian-Li case then you would own one. They are the Cadillac of aluminum cases. Yes I agree that paying $250.00 or more for a case is a little extreme, but if $$$ is a prob, charge it! Ha Ha!

Lian-Li's are fine but they are loud and don't cool as well. Had a 2.4G P4 w/ 2 scsi drives in a pc50 but switched to a Compucase Lx6A-19 when I upgraded to 3.3Ghz P4.

I found the Lian-Li's fans loud and it didn't cool as well as the other case. Lian-Li should change to 120mm fans for better cooling & noise. Their current v1000-2000 cases that
look like apple's don't cool that great when loaded w/ 5-8 scsi drives.

Regards,
Jose

Which Lian-Li?

They're well made. Very well made. But they don't cool well. Their upside down cases don't have a fan in the upperchamber (and heat rises!) and the PC-50 (what I have) relies heavily on the power supply for case cooling.

I'm not too fond of the new cases, but the PC-65 cases are very nice. Excellent construction, good features, plenty of fans (with a filter on the intake fans), and a nice removeable motherboard tray. Also, their universal CD drive covers (sold seperately, of course) are the best I've seen (but avoid the non-universal ones). Basicly, I think they stumbled a bit on their latest case designs, but the last generation was very high quality. Its hard to explain until you've used the case, and especially since so many cases are starting to copy design features. On the bright side, the last generation seems to be coming down slightly in price.

i think lian-li relies more on their name than the quality of some of their products to make a buck or two. granted some of their cases are very well constructed and are very good quality, others are just plain crap. 🙁

no, it's just that Lian-Li cases look like cheaply painted boxes. Not all of TT's stuff is good, but i'd take the Tsunami over almost any LL case anyday.

The only thing i do like about Lian-Li is the aquarium mod though. That looks awsome!

you get what you pay for. lian li cases are very good. the only bad thing about lian li is the so very ugly aquarium mod that looks cheaper than a 2$ crack whore with its ugly plastic fish that look like something a 2 year old would play with. luckily this is an option so you dont need to buy it and i can recommend lian li with a clear conscience. dont let yourself get fooled. its no surprise that someone who likes plastic fish would also like thermaltake cases. anything else would be contradicting.

Ohhh...ouch! Sorry for having an opinion.

LOL! I love Lian-Li but that is the best thing I've ever heard! And yes, I have to agree that the aquarium mod looks like balls in a window.

Lian Li cases have a nice simple look to them. There are too many of the futuristic techy looking cases out there.

I have a Lian-Li PC61. Looks great and is very well made. Love it.

I just bought and Modded a V-2000, love the thing. I took it to 3 machine shops to have the 120mm blowhole and 80mm intakes done, at each place they were gawking at the construction, these are guys that work with metal and really apprecited the construction.

On a side note prior to the fan adds it was a bit hot, but I was also used to the temps of my modded pc-65. Lian- Li makes a great case.

Lian Li is going for a simple look and that's how alot of people like it. Clean aluminum cases. Sorry they don't look like Auto Bots or Decepticons.

I think Lian-li cases are a bargain for what you get. I applaud a manufacturer that strives for greatness in quality, design, innovation, materials, etc. I think Lian-li, with perhaps the exception of Silverstone, are the only case makers out there that produce a product that one should be proud to own...

And for those that say they are loud...
My v1100b is far quieter than my old Sonata...

And for those that say they are poorly cooled... bollocks. This beast cools better than the antec as well. Figure out your fans, your airflow, etc., and you're set.

And as for their design... the elegance and beauty of these minimalist beasts are unmatched.

The cadillac of cases? Hardly. More like the Ferrari of cases.
