Lian-Li PC71-Questions and praise!!

Just got my Lian Li PC71 case and I have to tell you I am so dam happy to have it that I might wet my pants. Its one helluva a nice case - tons of room, light as a feather, and looks AWESOME (I really dig the blue LEDS).

My question is primarily in reference to the fans.

While I do not find the stock Lian-Li fans noisy or loud would I be better off putting the Panaflo L1As I have in place of the stock fans??

What do you guys think?

Greg

do u have a 12"x13" mobo? and if not y on earth wood u get a tower? lemme see... do u have a raid setup where u use all the HD bays for the raid HDs? do u have SCSI daisy-chained components that take up all those bays? if u just have a regular mobo and 4 IDE devices then that case is a waste of space.

sheeyit, why so harsh duke? if he wants a full tower merely because he wants a tall drink coaster, it's his money, let him spend it in peace.

right on dude, all the best with you and your new box, i wish i could afford one myself 🙂
as far as replacing the fans... unfortunately, it's a judgement call. i have 4 case panaflos, replaced antec psu's fan with a panaflo, replaced my heatsink with a panaflo, and i have some taped to the outside of my case because i like them so damn much 😉
in all seriousness, the panaflos most likely are quieter than the fans you have in your case right now (and probably have lower cfm), but if you're happy with your current noise/temps then let it be. otherwise, cough up the $20 and buy some p-flos, and hook dem bitches up and really quiet that mofo down!

btw duke, do you have an apple cinema 22" lcd? then why do you have any dvd-roms?

Excuse me .......
Excuse me .......

Did I somehow wrong you in another life??? If so, sorry. If not, than shut-the-hell-up!

Geez what difference does it make why I bought the case??? And is it right for you to criticize me for it???

For your nosey little self I have the following components which necessitate a Full tower case

SCSI CD rom
SCSI CDRW
SCSI DVD Rom
SCSI CD Changer
SCSI Tape Backup Unit
IDE HDD Removable rack

All of which require 5 1/4" bays. Happy now???

Back on topic thanks for the advice on the Panny's I think I will toss them anyway. I mean I've got them so there really isn't a major cost issue here.

Thanks

Greg

What the hell crawled up your butt, duke? He bought it, he prefers a full tower...you aren't his lover (are you?) or his mom, so you're kind of out of line.

next time do not leave out relevent data please. thank you for your cooperation. j/k 🙂

its just that when i 1st got in2 computers i wanted a full tower cuz... i don't know why cuz it was a "server" case. and then i was like these freakin ide cables don't even go up to the top bay... ARRRGGGHH! and i never used it like u do with all those scsi devices and all my friends that are n00bs to building their own rig want a full tower and i'm like dude... whatever. so thats y i came off strong. didn't mean to impune your work sir, as it seems u are fully legetimized in your case decision. ALTHO! might i interest u in an Enlight EN-8950 server case with a hot-swapable box? anyway i digress, good luck with your new case and setup and i wish u well in your endevors. and in case i need to reiterate for the sake of posterity... u have my 1000 apologies good sir.

I have the PC70 with all IDe devices. Top bay is Romtec Trios. Next three bays are IBM 60GXP HDDs inside of Ultimate HDD coolers. Next two are the LiteOn CDRW and DVD drives. It's real easy to fill up six external 5 1/4 bays. And, yes, I had to use a 24" IDE ribbon cable to reach the Romtec. I think it's great. Lots of room to maneuver in.

Good luck with your 71.

i have a full tower... its an older inwin full tower and now i just have my crappy abit kt7a-raid mobo with a 1 ghz athlon in it. i have 4 scsi ibm hds with a raid 0 setup with 2 wd 20 gb hds. just 1 dvd-rom. i use this old piece o' crap for practicing with my win2k server stuff. altho i'm gonna setup my tyan thunder k7 as my next crappy server board... i don't like it. i set it up originally as my 2nd gaming machine but it has issues with nvidia and i got the blue screen twice. i NEVER get blue screens while running win2k. that was the 1st time. so i'll just use the on-board video (ati rage) and pull out my gf4 ti4600 and put it in my athlon 1.33ghz w/asus a7m266 mobo. it might run hotter but its more stable than tyan+nvidia. so i spent $350 for a multi cpu board just so i can use it for my practice pc... pathetic. tyan ain't good for gaiming guys. FYI.

A full tower is the only way to go, roomy and easy to work with, not crowded like a mid tower.
Congratulations on your new toy.

that tower is ideal for a nice watercooling setup 😀

anyway, I would replace the fans if they annoy u, if they dont .... then U dont need to replace it ...

I'm getting a PC88 (has 5 fans)

and I'm going to replace all fans with panflo's just because next year I'm moving out and on college I'll have a single room, and I dont want to shut down my computer every evening, so I'll install water in it with all pabst fans (expensive I know 😀)
