Lian-Li PC60 aluminum case...any thoughts?

I'm thinking of purchasing this case for my next system. I'm currently using a 3D Cool Tornado 1000. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I also have the Addtronics 7896, Antec SX1030, Fong Kai 603. The PC60 is out of their league.

I'm quite impressed with the design and placement of the fans. I don't care much for the blowhole on the Coolermaster aluminum cases and my 3D Cool case is fine, but the front fan is basically useless because it has a heavy dust filter and slot box for supporting long cards. The fans mounted in the slide door also cause a lot of turbulence in the case. The PC60 looks like it's designed for smooth airflow in one direction.
What kind of power supply are you using? I was thinking of putting an Enermax in there. Also, I see that the rear 80mm fan is a 3 pin plug. Did you attach it to a motherboard header or use a 3-4 pin adapter?

Does the case scratch easily? That aluminum is fairly soft right? Is there any kind of coating on the metal to prevent it from oxidizing?

if you want to check it out....you might wanna try fry's. The fry's back in LA had both the coolermaster and the lian-li aluminum cases on display so you could see it for yourself. there seems to be alot more fry's stores up in san jose, so I'm assuming there should be some there too.

Didn't see it at Fry's up here (probably out of stock), but I had a chance to poke at both of 'em at Central Computers in SJ. I really liked the looks of it..

Another question to air out- how noisy is it? My current case puts out a good deal of fan noise. Is the Lian-Li case a noisy one?

I'm using a Sparkle 400W, but am looking for another alternative. The Sparkle is way too noisy. The Enermax PS's don't fit in this case properly. I have the 431W that I was going to use. If anyone knows of a good, quiet PS besides the Enermax please let me know.

I didn't use an adapter for the fan plug.

I don't think it would scratch easy. I don't know if it's coated or not, but it feels really smooth.

As far as the noise issue, it's hard to tell with this Sparkle PS in there. I can't hear anything over it. I don't think the fans are producing too much noise though. If I can get this thing quietened down, I will be very happy. Otherwise it's almost perfect.

Ack- doesn't fit the Enermax P/S huh? I've already purches the powersupply and not the case! :disgust:

Does the P/S shelf in the PC60 block the bottom fan on the enermax? Is this something a Dremel tool can fix?

Heh, guess I'll have to stay away from a Sparkple P/S if I need an alternative to the Enermax... Any other suggestions?

check out the PC Power and Cooling silencer PS specs here

MY opinion is: if your drop 175-200 on a case don't skimp on a PS...get something that will make your system rock solid. PC power and cooling supplies, the 400W silencer in particular, have just about the tightest voltage control and noise reduction out of any PS on the market in that size.

OF course...the price sucks...like $160-170. IF your a reseller it's alot cheaper. But there's nothing horrible about the Enermax power regulation...it good, just not really good.

I have the PC60 and love it. It's a cinch to work with.

As far as an Enermax PS goes, I believe people have been taking off the bottom fan grill, sliding the PS in, and then reattaching the fan grill.

yep just got mine in today and did exaclty that whith my enrmax. the ps mounts on its own slide out plate attched with thumbscrews the enermax will not slide in with the grill on. however, im prety sure i can remove the resticting protion of alluminum with a dremel without harming the structural integrity of the case in any way; thereby alloweing the enermax to slide in and out like any other ps

btw it is by far the nicest case i have ever seen

Has anyone compared the cooling efficiency in these new Aluminum cases to older ones, specifically an Inwin Q500.
If it can bring my case temps down by a fair bit I would gladly upgrade to one.

I've got both the Lian Li and the Coolermaster and teh Lian Li wins hands down. i mean, it's helluva lot lighter for my LAN parties, and looks cooler IMHO with its all brushed alumnium look. THe Coolermaster is great but seems louder and a bit heavier. i leave it for my home work setup. As for the enermax issue, it's all good. Just remove the fan grill on the bottom and after sliding in the PS, you can screw them back in. No problem. Great case, but only if you got money to burn.

How much does PC-60 weigh? Cooler Master weighs 13 lbs.

I was looking at the PC-60 at Fry's, I thought the internal structures are still steel with Al skins while CM's is all Al.

I dunno exactly but when i was cmparing the two, the Lian Li was as light as a feather compared to the Coolermaster. But that's not to say that the integrity of the case was bad. It felt the same as the Coolermaster.

Don't buy one from Fry's. They'll rape you. Check with Directron or Mwave for better pricing.

I've gotta agree with CWand, Fry's is a big hassle to work with.
Central Computers and Atacom both have good prices. ($200 and $210 respectively.)

Awesome case. I've been eyeing (*dr00ling* I should say) that case for quite some time now. The only problem is the hassle you have to go through to fit an Enermax power supply. It can be done, but just an hassle.

You should get it at Mwave, but Mwave shows it as their own Aluminum case, but it should be the Lian-Li PC60 Case. (It shows up as the PC60 at Mwave, but no brand there.).

Good luck getting one.
