Lian-Li PC-V1100 Air Flow

My first post ? I feel so vulnerable so be gentle.

I?m interested in the Lian-Li PC-V1100. The case is soooooo beautiful that I?m planning to place in on top of my oak desk. Ok ? now for the paranoid question. Do you see any potential for heat damage to the desk since the air flow includes ports out of the bottom of the case?

I have that case; heat should not be a prob. I have 3 hard drives running in the lower racks-the exhaust air is warm, but should not cause any damage whatsoever.

Welcome to the forums 😎

Air doesn?t come out the bottom front vent it goes in. Not that it matters PC temps don't get high enough to damage anything.

I have that case and heat coming out from the bottom isn't a problem. Leave the wheels on it, just lock the rear pair (comes able to this right out of the box) and install the rubber rings onto the wheels (so they grip and don't slip).

I have four hard drives installed, two of them being Seagate drives, which are supposed to generate more heat than other drives. I just wish I had enough room for the V2100B case. If I did, I'd get that one in about two seconds.

For the case owners, how loud are your cases? I've been reading about aluminum cases in general and supposedly, they generate more vibration noise than steel cases.

That's been my experience, too, Ky.

Aluminum cases seem to resonate like tin drums. PaxMate would fix it, but some people who get aluminum cases believe the case's heat-absorbing and conductive properties are compromised. My feeling is that the difference between steel and aluminum is insignficant if your strategic airflow choices are effective, and that worrying about the case acting as a heatsink is way out of proportion to the benefits derived therefrom.

The V1100 is NOT your typical aluminum case. For one thing, the aluminum used is thick. The side panels are [each] 2mm thick. Plus the sound matting is covering the insides of both side panels and the top. With the rear fan deflector (also with the sound dampening material inside it) it's a lot quieter than any other case I've used.

In my tower (see the link in my sig) the loudest fan is on the processor. Of course, I'm also using a pretty quiet PSU in the case. I also [typically] see processor temps ranging from 30-34C at idle. So not only is the V1100 quiet, but it will keep your rig cool. Of course, I've changed out some of the [cooling] hardware in my rig to get where I'm at.

Before I moved back to the US, I used to have a number of aluminum and steel cases... now I just have a steel tower case so I have no comparison. The V1100 looks damned nice, though, so I might just have to try it w/ a new dual opteron rig.
