I have a PC61 with the stock 4 fans...2 80mm in the front, one in the back, & one on top. The way the front 2 fans are configured, they're right in front of my 2 hard drives (WD800JB & WD1200JB).
I'm wanting quiet, so i'm planning on getting rid of the Enermax "Whisper" 350w in favor of a Seasonic Tornado. I've also planned on replacing the stock fans with either some Panaflo L1A's or some Coolermasters.
I've been debating on getting a side window w/fan, but don't know that much about "negative or positive" air pressure.
Of course i've also been debating selling my PC61 & going with a Chenbro Spider...hehe.

First of all, remember that your front fans have a high-medium-low adjuster switch thing that hides under the bezel. :) Panaflo L1A's are certainly nice fans, though, and they could be used with the three-speed switch too.

Secondly, you may want to port out the filter holder for lower restriction & therefore lower noise and definitely remove the stamped-aluminum grilles on the fans for the same reason. I'd suggest removing the stamped aluminum where the rear exhaust fan is, too, and using a wire grille there for low restriction & noise.

Thirdly, how noisy are your hard drives and video card? A system is only as quiet as the noisest part.

To be honest, I can't hear my video card fan or hard drives from what I believe is my power supply.
I was kinda wanting to halfway mod my case with a window & that is one of the reasons I was thinking about the Coolermaster fans...I figgered the blue would show up thru the front grill.
Would a side panel fan be too much, or would that add up to more noise?
What's the easiest way to remove the fans? Are those black thingies gonna hafta be cut out?
I'm too clumsy to get the dremel out...hehehe.

If you're meaning those black rivet-looking things that hold the fans on, they're removable/re-usable. Here's a shot of some: link See how the one part has a pin that slides into the other. Just push the pin out from inside, or pull the pin out from the outside, and they let go. :D

I had an Enermax that ran rather loud too, so I know what you mean. Good luck with your project! :)

The 80mm fans...are they 80x25 or 80x38?
Are these fans ok to use? According to the specs they should be quiet, plus they might help dress the case up some, yes? I thought about getting 3...2 for the front & 1 for the top, then get either an L1A or an M1A for the rear.
The next step is to make that Enermax "Whisper" actually whisper...hehehe.

Tullphan, the stock Adda fans are 80x25MM fans. Those Coolermasters would probably work fine in a Lian-Li case, and are probably better quality than most LED fans.

Fans with LED's are usually on the low end quality-wise. I had a 4 LED fan in the exhaust position on my Lian-Li PC-65 which, out of the blue, had a blade fracture and fly off while it was running! The fan was only a month or so old at the time.

One of the best things you could do for yourself to help control noise is to hook all your fans to a rheobus.

I have a PC-60USB case and opted for some eye-candy instead of the boring, but quiet, stock fans. LED and/or LED UV reactive fans give off enough color to be seen through the front grill. It actually looks quite slick. Although, the eye candy fans are not necessarly of lesser quality (maybe some) but they are definately louder. A fan control bay could be a good idea (as Blooz1 suggested) to keep the fan noise low, although some will "whine" when turned down to a lower rpm than they are used to. I find that sometimes it's a trade-off between a quiet PC and a PC full of eye candy mods.
You can also order a lian-li side window pre-modded and ready to go. It may not be the *best* window (the rivets look somewhat cheesey) but it does add a nice touch with no work involved. Also, lian-li cd rom bezels are starting to appear on some online vendors. A nice investment to hide those drab beige cd-roms :)

No beige cd roms here! :) I got a black Plextor cdr-w & a black Liteon DVD.
If those LED fans are lesser quality, would a CCL put out enough light to shine thru the front & top fan grills?
Would my best bet be to get some M1A's & hook them up to a rheobus? Are they a better fan than the Adda's?

I have a lian li pc65. Took out all the fans, one 12dba papst exhaust fan and only have one front papst 12dba fan. For PSU, I have a zalman 400w. Only noise left is the annoying fan on the gf4 tu4200 and my hard drives. btw the enermax "whisper" power supplies are not that quiet, check around, perhaps quieter than the loud ones.

I'm debating on replacing the 2 fans that are in the Enermax now with L1A's or just buying a new Fortron.
I'm also debating whether or not to just buy this case...that way i'll save $30 on the side window, + have better cooling (92mm in the front, 120mm in the rear). Otherwise, i'll be buying 4 quiet fans (~$25), a side window (~$30), and a rheobus (~$20).
