Because they are well designed, built to tight tolerances, use quality materials, and are designed for adults who eschew bling bling and are put off my plastic and ZOMGLOOKATMEGOING10000MILESanhour styling.

because once you've gotten bored of the flashiness, you eventually find a case that doesn't attract attention towards it. when people ask "what's that?" you have to explain to them that it's your computer. a computer should look like a computer, and that's that.

I like them because of temps. Very light, due to it being aluminum. Switched from a P-180 to a PC-7B plus II dropped temps by 5-7c.

Too bad L-L doesn't care enough about their English speaking customers to build a decent web site for them with all the needed info. I dread going to what they have now as there is almost never any useful info there. Heck they don't even appear to have a US office. I bought a L-L EX-34B and that's the last money they'll get from me. The best info you'll find on that item is in my reviews on techimo.com .

Classy indeed. I just wish they made a V1100 in the same dimensions as a V1200 and I would pick one up for what they're asking.

Cases made by manufacturers like Lian-Li and Silverstone are popular and also more expensive because the case material is high quality and they're well built for cooling performance. Cheaper flashy cases that "look good" are usually made of cheap plastic or heavy steel that makes the case weigh as much as a sack of bricks. To me a sleek well finished aluminum case looks 10x better than a case with some ugly front plastic door, a bunch of $1.50 LED fans, a thin side panel window that bends as you hold it, and especially the included $10 500w power supply made by China Town Electronics.

I'm not gay or anything, but I luv you!!! :D

I've been asking the same thing, ever since I've been on AnandTech!

If you woke me up in the middle of the night, beat me with a rubber hose, and stuck a gun in my mouth, I would NEVER run a Lian-Li case -=- that's how much I hate them!

Everything they do is backwards and upside-down... And, for what?

Really, the thought of using a Lian-Li case makes me want to blow chunks!

Um...

Am I getting carried away? :)

quality. if you've ever used one you'll understand what people are saying. pictures and websites don't justify. lights are just plain annoying. esp at night when you're trying to sleep or watching a movie in the dark.

bc they're designed in China. in China (and some other places of the world) some things are on the other side (i.e. driver's side, driving direction). i'm sure people in those other countries say the same thing about american-designed cases.

what don't u understand about their website? they tell you just as much as american case company websites.

Look up their fan controller - tell me what useful info you find. Can't even find out how much power is available per channel. Almost nothing about the EX-34 either. The English is poor too.

Good luck! :D

Typical Lian-Li support story -- picked at random via Google:

...This is after literally weeks of waiting for Lian Li to get me a set of missing screws and accessories for the damned case; through circumstances too good to be true, the case goodies were delivered to my parents? hotel while they were visiting Taiwan last week, and then to me some days later. My aunt, instrumental in the accessories acquisition, claims that Lian Li?s customer service in Taiwan is quite good. That?s great for Taiwan, but Lian Li sells a lot of product here in the States, too, and their USA customer service is non-existent. Good thing I have family in Taiwan; I was about to get creative.
Glad you got that bag of hardware. There?s no Lian-Li support in the US because they have no corporate presence here. Any Lian-Li rep here one would speak to would be a middleman importer.

i have a beautiful PC-A10B. Great cooling, sturdy, well built, with a great eye to detail.

Never had a case like it.

Proud owner of a Lian Li PC-60BPlusII w/side window. For a tad more than $100, I got an all aluminum CLASSY looking case that I will have for this upcoming build and likely the next after that. Parts fit together like a glove and are all high quality. End of discussion.

This guy sounds like he's got a fetish...better see a doctor pal.

I've been using a Lian 2100 for about two years now. Upgraded to the plus kit later. The Plus kit added a vertical fan out the back to vent some of the air. Some pluses and minues: It really keeps the dirt out of the inside. Has one front filters and 1 bottom filter...both are easy to clean..... that aspect is great. Power supply is in its own compartment so no heat getting to other areas. CPU heat and Video Card heat: being a silent case they didn't add a fan to the top to exhaust the air. If they would have added a fan to the top you would see the inside temps drop some but not as silent in operation.......I'm buying a video card that exhausts air out the back and takes up two slots so it may help some. This case is roomy enough inside to work in.....not cramped like some cases which is a plus...I also have the Praetorian....after changing out the fans it isn't too bad but way noiser hard drive operation. Purchased this Lian case for 180$....I think it has done pretty well.

You mean this one?

It is just a sunbeam rheobus with a LL bezel on it instead of the standard bezel and more than 2x the pricetag.

I'm with the OP. I don't really like the LL cases myself either. I like my 3D Aurora 570 much better :D

V2000B Plus II user here. Best case ever. Fits many components, keeps temps down, good airflow; great details and excellent quality.
Mine also has a bling factor. It's modded like hell.
Check pics:
Pic 1
Pic 2
Pic 3

Fit all those components inside another case. It's a challenge.
Down section:
1 Vapo LS unit + Chill Control and other electronics
4 HDDs
1.1Kw PSU

Upper section
The usual (Video cards, Sound card, CPU, cooler, memory, DVD-RWs)
4 Laing DDC Ultras
2 Swiftech res
1 BIX II
1 BIX I
and lots of tubing.

I love Lian Li because it's sturdy. This computer weights 110 pounds (50kg). Cheaper cases would break apart under than weight.

Putting the classy or dull issue aside, why on earth do they come without a reset switch? I mean does Lian-Li really think we no longer wand to soft-reset our PC and it never ever hangs on us? It reminds me of the Packard Bell PC's in 1998, they too didn't have a reset switch but ran Windows 98.

Is it too much to ask?

Many Lian Li's do have reset switches, like my PC-A10. They do make more than the V-xxx series you know.. :disgust:
On the ones that don't have one, its a styling choice meant to keep the case clean & uncluttered.

So a small reset button is going to ruin all the case aesthetics all of a sudden? Why have buttons at all? Why not have a voice controlled case instead.
