A friend decided he wanted to mod his stock silver colored aluminum Lian-Li case and I've helped. Luckily the thing comes apart mostly (except for the top panel, so we painted it the same color as the interior (white). Painted the rest Purple, got one of those clear UV reactant acrylic power supplies, UV reactant cables, UV reactant sleaving and heatshrink material, and went to town. We used a Rotozip tool ( I forget which bit size) to cut out the back built in grill and the top built in grill.

A bunch of pictures, may help you if you plan on doing something similar. Text

What's left to be done? We're looking for a great picture of the Joker (cartoon) and going to have it airbrushed on the front over top the drives, also, going to get a scene (also to be decided) airbrushed on the side of the case.

Input welcome.

Looks nice. :) How did all that spray paint work out for you? I've done that in the past and it didn't work so well. plastic parts don't spray too well, and it also scratches very easily.

so far, good. we've used straight spray paint before on bezels without issue.

for the case we did the normal spray paint (a couple coats) and then a finishing touch of clearcoat protective seal.

Ya, a clearcloat would seem to help things a great deal. Did you do any sanding to the plastic at all? If that paint has nothing to grab on to, don't be surprised if the paint flakes off down the road.

Looks good though. Good work.

Actually, the drive bezels were sanded and painted silver previously to match the silver aluminum. I don't think they were sanded this time, but we just used the silver paint as a primer for the purple coats.

I can't see clearly enough but how did you mount the new fans in the front and back? Looks like you found small screws with the right thread size.

Also, in this picture, doesn't the two front fans run on a controller of some sort or speed selection switch? Did you bypass that completely or rewire it?

I've been meaning to change the fans in my PC-61. Just had a few questions.

Thanks.

As is the fans were mounted with plastic holders that we just popped out (or pryed out). We just used standard fan screws to put the new ones in place.

as for a controller or speed selection switch, no they don't. just straight 4pin molex connectors hooked up to the power supply. nothing fancy.
