Makes perfect sense if you are familiar with the origin of the term computer "bug"
i'm also familiar with the phrase "bread from the sky"
rusty basements are also suspicious.
someone is trying to send us a signal. CERN is creating death.
i for one expect the zombie swine flu to originate at CERN. Some one concocted this mix on purpose, so that they, and they alone, would actually bear witness to the end of the world, with all the remaining zombified and able to merely experience.
Two comments:
1. How do you spend billions of dollars on something and engineer it so poorly that it breaks down 5+ times before its launch?
2. Maybe it's being sabotaged by the future.
have you not seen how complex this thing is?
I've seen it. Do a real engineering job and put in multiple backups for every system so you don't have to shut everything down and waste millions of dollars everytime something goes wrong.
Actually, the LHC is nigh invulnerable. The bird happened to drop the bread in a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft lead directly to the reactor system, and caused the overheating.
Multiple backups = more money, and more complexity in what is already the most complicated machine this species has ever built.I've seen it. Come on, the thing has to be adjusted due to the Moon passing overhead, causing the ground to flex underneath it. I don't think that normal construction tolerances apply here.
For the total cost of the thing, I think they're getting a lot for their money.
Google sez....LHC cost = $4.6B.
Cost of one space shuttle (Endeavor): $1.7B.
err, are you for real? moon adjustments? link?
It's bidding its time until 2012.
Yeah, I read that somewhere. The Moon passing overhead causes slight deformations in Earth's crust. Very tiny amounts, granted.err, are you for real? moon adjustments? link?
Like tides in the ocean, the ground is also subject to lunar attraction. When the Moon is full, the Earth's crust actually rises about 25 cm (9.8 in). This movement causes the circumference of the LHC to vary by (a whopping) 1 mm (out of 27 km, a factor of 0.000004%) ) but that's enough so that physicists need to take it into account.

Googling for source.....
Got it - bullet #3.
And here's what you get when tidal forces cause more than 100m of flexing in "solid" rock.

Well, sort of.whoa that's awesome :awe: :awe: :awe:
God damnit i wish we could still type in all caps, this is worthy of that.
CAPS LOCK YAY!
MM, CAPS
No, that was the third Death Star. They were short on money though, so they got a sponsor. As the new sponsor, Campbell's Soup decided that "Death Star" wasn't very marketable, so now it's the "Chunky Homestyle Vegetable Soup Star."Is that...the Death Star from Return of the Jedi?
