Looking at those specs and then at the price, you can't help to think this is a great deal. 32GB of storage with expandable mSD slots. 5.5" FHD IPS LCD screen. 2GB RAM. For $199 on contract? Great deal all around. Never had an LG superphone before so it'll be a first.

I am. My parents' eye sights aren't as good as used to be. The S4 is nice but I think Optimus G Pro or the upcoming Galaxy Mega might be even better choices for them. Prices will be a factor.

Does Samsung make it for LG? 1st glance makes me think they do....Guess the new trend will be to copy the Samsung look in the mobile world.

My sister is going to be 51 next year. She has to change the font on her iPhone 5 to crazy big to read texts, etc. She also always has a handbag on her. When she sees me in June with this thing I bet she'll consider one.

Yeah I was surprised by that. I need to call AT&T and figure out what my best move is. I resigned my contract to get a subsidized iPhone 5 last September. They told me recently that I can get some sort of discount if I resign my contract. I'm thinking about buying it off contract (depending on the price) and I want to see if they'll unlock my iPhone 5 if I do that. (To increase resale value.)

What are you using now Dari?

Those specs sound pretty good. Only thing I don't like about the regular Optimus G is the screen. I might get one. But who knows maybe AT&T will find a way to ruin it.

They are like the dark cloud on my horizon nowadays.....

Great deal, looks to be a very good phone at a killer price. Screen is a clear advantage over the Note 2 and it'll have at least 5 months before the Note 3 comes with a 1080p screen.

- the S-Pen and digitizer is a cool feature of the Note 2 - but understand why LG didn't feel it's necessary. Helps on packaging as well.
- battery life during web browsing and video playback seem more inline with the S3 generation of phones which IMO aren't great and won't get a moderate/heavy user through a whole day.

But for $199 - great deal.

Did AT&T make them style the black one (black with blue trim around the button) to look a little less like a direct Note 2 copy?

How does this look less like a Note II via the AT&T changes? The only difference I see is that the pattern on the back is more muted here versus the flashy tile of the Korean G Pro.

The Note doesn't have contrast-color button highlighting (didn't AT&T add the red highlights to the One X+?). And it's not actually black. ;)

Are you referring to the light around the home button? That's a part of the original G Pro. Nothing to do with AT&T. You can toggle it different colors for different notifications.

What's not actually black?

Oh all the phones to copy the looks of, Jesus christ it doesn't even make sense the company that put out the Nexus 4 would go on to create something so fucking ugly.

It's settled. This is how copying goes in the mobile industry:

LG copies Samsung copies Apple copies SONY.

So Sony's ultimately the one to blame for this ugly ass phone? Burn them at the stake.

I don't find it ugly one bit. My only complaints are that the home button looks too thin and the speaker should always be on the bottom or on the front.

Yeah, looks like a slightly prettier S2, which is what a lot of people wanted the S3 to look like. Looks fine.

It'll be a good phone but just don't count on getting updates for the same length of time as Samsung phones will.

Pre-ordered my G Pro this morning. $550 off-contract.

Does anybody know if AT&T will unlock my iPhone 5 now that I upgraded my phone early for full price? Also is my G Pro unlocked for international use because I purchased full price? If not, will AT&T unlock it if requested?

I am really looking forward to this phone - so much so that I am willing to pay the penalty to break my Verizon contract.

I am going to wait a bit to see if Google has any announcements on a new phone planned during Google I/O...

So it looks like an S4.... the home button is so slim. Unless they do a raised button, it can be hard to press at that kind of thinness.

Like a really big, squarer S4.
