Since Note 5 is pretty much a bust for power users, seems like rumor for LG G4 Pro is shaping up nicely to be the phone to get for the phablet range, maybe except for the stylus.

-Snapdragon 820
-5.8" @ 1440 x 2560 pixels
-microSD, up to 128 GB
-Internal, 32/64 GB
-Memory 4 GB RAM
-Camera 27 MP, laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, LED flash

What do you think?

MAYBE SD810 if they think they can manage the overheating.

SD820 isn't shipping until Q1 2016, it just isn't gonna be in the G4 pro.

The rest I can believe, though I would hesitate on the 27MP camera, seems a bit over the top and frankly a waste with an aperture that small.

If they include a pen as with the G4 stylus it'd be a sure replacement for the Note 4.

I think that some people might need the S-Pen and keep the Note 4 for a while longer. Especially if they have an unlocked version and can load in stock versions of Android.

Looks nice though.

Looks better than the Note 5, in my opinion anyway. I am exited to see what Qualcomm can do this time around. Snapdragon 810 was rushed, and a big disappointment considering the success of Snapdragon 801 and 805.

It really all comes down to the Adreno graphics vs Samsung using the stock Mali GPUs, that and the modems are the real big differences between the two SoCs (performance-wise). If QC manages to put the same recipe they did with their Snapdragon chips they will succeed: Decent CPU grunt with Good GPU and excellent modem integration. Samsung Exynos chips are more powerful but aren't as well balanced as QC chips.

I could see LG using a Snapdragon 810, since there are revisions that supposedly eliminate the overheating issue (the OnePlus 2 is using that revision, for example). I'll only believe the spec rumors when I get hard evidence, though.

Also, how bad is it that the biggest CPU hope for many Android fans is a fixed version of a chip released earlier in the year?

I believe that one of the qualcomm execs or reps said that all versions of 810 that were released are of 2.1 revision -- OPO just decided to "market" it as such. XiaoMi Note Pro, HTC One M9, Xperia Z4 (Z3+) are all on 810 v2.1

Should be a decent device but it's not coming with the S820 unless for some reason QC wanted to downplay 2H 2015 which I highly doubt. With the S810 or S808 - it's going to have the same struggles with a QHD display.

27MP camera IMO is actually a bad thing unless they've found something new - pixels that small with a smartphone sensor is not going to be great in low light, regardless of lens and OIS. They need to match the launch and focus speeds of the iPhone 6S, not run up a huge MP count.

Unless its a very large sensor, that'll be past the diffraction limit. At typical cell phone camera f-stops anything less than about 2.5 micron pixel pitch will see severe fall off. And that's with a perfect lens.

The SD808 is a decent SOC. It runs very consistently under load. The G4's GPU is a bit on the weak side, however. I wish we were talking about a 1080 phone and not the 1440 insanity mouth breathers mistake as being a "feature."

That being said, I really hope this thing doesn't have the 808. I don't see the point if it's the same. Just like how there's no point to the Note 5 this year. Same design, same SOC. It's completely pants.

This is the last chance for a decent 2015 phone to arrive. If LG blows it, then I guess I'll hang on to my S4 and wait in vain for a real two generation upgrade...

Well there is the i-phone 6s. There is a good chance it'll be a substantial upgrade at least.
And to think, even a few months ago I would have scoffed at the notion. But here we are...the Android show's about over, and nobody has stepped up.

It's sad really. The S6 has some great upgrades. It's got a wonderful SOC, RAM, and fancy new storage. I just wanted the power user features of the Note.

I still can't believe the Note 5 is the same phone as the S6 with a pen. Lack of SD card and removable batter aside (egregious offenses as they are on a power user handset), it's comically bad that there are no meaningful spec boosts. Samsung really dicked up this year...
