I thought Project Butter was all about pushing UI rendering onto the GPU? 😕

yes, they did a lot of that. That was a never part of design for android as when they were developing it their plan was to compete with blackberry-- and they were going to have a trackball like BB, too. Hence the old settings menu design in Eclair and complete disregard for separating UI from processing. Because of that last bit, they also added in boost for any time you touch the screen. Very hacky and lazy-- 'hey they touched the screen, now we make CPU full speed for 300ms no matter what'

what was the problem? what was solution?
....
I / you can use AppQuarantine to make widgets out of most apps. Amazon, FB, FB Messenger, Skype, G+, etc. all these apps that want to run in the background syncing all the time, I keep locked down. Having root on android really is mandatory...
Thirty years ago I was a systems programmer, and I specialized in fast code using assembly language as needed, so I would have known the answer to your question. These days I'm far removed from that, and am just a dumb end user. Nothing I did helped. In the end Google presumably pushed some update that fixed it, because it went away on it's own.

As for those other apps, I simply don't allow them on my phone. If I access them at all, it's through a desktop, but I don't use them much at all.

Does anyone know how to add an app to the navigation bar? All I am able to add is a button for qslide apps, which is pretty much useless.

The part of the screen where the home button sits on. There is plenty of room on there for another button.

I've never seen anyone add an app specifically to the navigation bar.

I would look into LMT Pie Controls. You can do many many things with that.

You can add an extra button with gravity box and give it custom commands based on single tap/double tap and long press.

Anyone running cloudy g3.3? Been meaning to update to LP for awhile, but waiting for th bugs to get worked out of the roms.

I installed it, seems nice. I need to install Blastigator's BUMP+LP bootloader so that I can run both. I'm on a Loki bootloader currently which prevents me from switching back and forth.

However, it's only based on 5.0.1, and still has the 5.0.1 issues. When I realized that, is when I realized I was less interested in the G2.

Nope. D: It works fine other than that. And I know the light isnt broken because it works for notifications.

what color?

it colors red for charging.
it could be that red isn't working. can you get it to color white? or red? either would have the red led illuminated

Wow I is dumb, apparently. When I first got the phone I think I accidentally turned off the notification LED when I was trying to get my LED flashlight app to work. It works fine now that it is turned on. 😀

when it gets slow i will enable the 4GB ram

Settings, Display, Notification light, if you tap that you can configure the front and rear LED light actions.

Increasing RAM?
LOL, is this for real, or just someone trolling hard?
I would totally trade some storage space for more RAM.

It's good to have an LG G2 owners thread on AT.
I will have mine for another 9 months.
Unless Verizon has cancelled their free phone policy by then,

Can someone list out any useful tips and tricks to make the G2 better?
Just basic end user stuff, not hacking and rooting or whatnot.

Using NAND to increase RAM sounds like a really bad idea... I dont know if its actually possible, or how fast that part of the RAM would be, but there is no way I would do it. Even with 2GB of RAM, my game, which only uses 200MB, reloads itself sometimes even though I simply press the home key and then go right back into the app. There was still almost 1GB of free RAM, yet it still reloads! So its not like any extra RAM would fix that. What I want is a way to force that app to stay in memory if there is memory available.

One other issue I have is that it turns the sound down automatically whenever I plug the aux cable into the headphone jack. Its a stupid feature that needs to be disabled. I just installed the "hearingsaver" app but havent tested it yet.

Edit: hearingsaver doesnt work consistently. In order for it to work I have to plug and unplug twice. I'd rather just push the volume up button a few times rather than wear out my jack.
