I'm returning the iPhone5s I got from Tmobile 13 days ago today. I am leaning on the G2 or Note 3. Which would you guys go for? Hm...

I'm biased a bit, but you can't go wrong with either phone in performance, display, or battery.

The G2 will be cheaper, new vs new or used vs used. If cost isn't an issue, then IMO it mostly comes down to what screen size you want.

If you are using the camera at all go for the G2. I would root and flash with stock Android or a custom ROM, though.

Note 3 gets my vote over the G2. Apex or Nova launcher + icon set "Tersus" looks and performs wonderfully on my friend's Note 3. The G2 is an awesome phone but I don't think the Note 3 has any disadvantage against it (except the price, of course) while I can think of a few advantage of the Note 3.

Though I would definitely recommend using a case with the Note 3. Samsung went overboard with thin and light. The phone feels skeleton-like and needs a protection.

G2 has OIS
Note 3 has 3GB RAM
G2 has cheaper price
Note 3 has Spen

i see them as about the same, and depending on where your concerns in a phone lie either can be good options, for many though the cheaper price of the G2 on contract will be a big factor.

oops, lg's gotta be takin a lot a sales away frum note 3 tho cuzza da prices. good job lg

First, what's with the JarJarBinks talk?

I doubt it. I think the lack of sales success is part of the reason its $99 now.

Fact is, LG has a major mindset problem. Samsung has brand recognition. LG needs to consistently challenge them to make inroads on that. The G2 is a great start, it really should be put up against the GS4 and it wins hands down there I think, other than the MicroSD slot.

I think what LG should do to differentiate themselves is run a pure Android experience, and then just polish any extra stuff, like work to make the camera do a good job when set to auto so there's less need to mess with settings. And just focus on making good solid hardware like they did with the G2. Maybe try to offer value added like include the smart cover and stuff like that, basically offer a great out of box experience where other companies you have to decide more on accessories, bloat, and customization. I think it would help them with Google and with consumers.

Something I'd like to see if LG aim for a single phone to slot in between the GS and the Note. Offer say a 5.5" display in a more svelte setup than the Note, but offer what the Note does over the GS. For instance, I'd aim for $150/250, where the $150 would get 32GB non expandable non pen input. $250 would get both the extras. If I was them, I'd fast track something that has the G2 internals, boost the display to 5.5" and push the bezel limit like they did with the G2, add the pen and memory card, boost the camera to a 20MP sensor and work in a 5MP downsample/low light mode like Nokia does, and then have it out before the Galaxy S5 next year. Have it with a pure Android experience from the Nexus 5, and it'd be a winner.

Then again that's probably dreaming and wouldn't be a winner financially for LG as they'd probably kill their margins completely.

That sounds kind of like what they did last year with the Optimus G Pro, minus the whole stock Android thing, which I doubt anyone is really gonna do at this point aside from Moto. Unless you mean GPe.

The galaxy S5 is expected by Q1 or early Q2 I thought, no way LG can ship a product that fast unless it's been in the pipeline for awhile. Maybe we will see something like that in late summer/ early fall next year with an updated SOC.

I'm not sure about the G2, but with my experience with previous Phones, flashing stock roms (AOSP) usually resulted in worst camera quality. (and software too IMO)

I will say this though. I came to the G2 from a Mega (Basically Note II Camera) from a S4 from a HTC one from a Nexus 4.

The G2 Stock camera experience is the best one IMO. I've been very impressed with the quality of the photo's captured with the G2 too. It'd be my pick right now. That said, I have not used the Note 3 because it was too much $$ compared to the G2 at this time.

After having the LG G2 for a week I can honestly say it's the best Android phone that I have used.

My brother just got his Nexus 5 and it's quite meh in comparison. Screen is quite washed out, especially when you directly compare it to the G2. The screen is also noticeably smaller which was quite a surprise because I didn't think 0.25" would make a difference but it does. The G2 also feels better built. The Nexus 5 has a hollow feel to it but I did like the soft texture. I didn't have a chance to play with Kitkat to make a fair comparison but nothing really popped out at me when I was using it. I'll have to wait a couple of days to see how the battery life is on the Nexus 5 but I'm not expecting much. Battery life for the G2 has been fantastic.

Switched to the G2 recently so my mum could get my old S3. It's my first phone on a contract as opposed to just buying it. $46 / month for 10GB data.

I think that after HTC, LG have the best hardware design. So far I'm quite happy with the software. It's not the most beautiful Android skin but it's not terribly bloated, buggy or slow. Not really worse than Touchwiz IMO. The good thing with Android is that you can replace anything you don't like. My main concern, having owned the Optimus 2X some years ago, is software updates. However with the similarities between the G2 and Nexus 5, and the more common Snapdragon (as opposed to Tegra), I'm hoping it will be better this time.

The 2300 mah non-removable battery rules out the Nexus 5 for me, because battery life is so crucial. The smaller screen is also a big minus. 4.95" isn't exactly small, but with on-screen buttons it probably works out as smaller than the 4.8" screen of the S3.

I have been using it since Saturday, and so far I really like it. Running the stock rom (its attached to my work email so I have to watch what I do). Screen is nice, battery life is really good. I have used many Android phones in the past and battery life always was awful. This so far has been better than my iPhone 5 easily. Everything runs smooth. I havent used the camera yet so I cant comment on that.

To be frank 4.4 is kind of meh so far. 4.3 was nice coming from 4.2.

How does the G2 perform in stand-by?

How does the G2 perform in stand-by?

I have had my phone unplugged for an hour 30 mins, and it's still at 100%, all i've really done is check the time a few times during that time though.

It would easily last several days if you aren't turning the screen on that often.

That is excellent. I guess we can all thank S800!

I am really curious about Nexus 5 v. G2 battery head-to-head. The G2 has a 30% larger battery than the N5. (and slightly bigger display) Will the battery performance be proportional?

I also hope reviews start incorporating power saving modes in at least one of the battery tests. I want to know how much they help.

3 hours 10 mins on time 100% battery still, sent a few snapchats, texts, etc. nothing major though. screen ontime is only like 12 mins.
