given the comparison between L1710SK & L1780U I can't see why the L1780 nearly doubles the L1710SK. I mean, I get the whole 12ms as opposed to 16ms; but that's only 4ms difference. Is it really worth the $200 dollars extra, even though the contrast ratio is lower too? (550:1 vs 500:1) Although, they both are stated to be (This must be a mistake: their site says 16.2m colors)24bit 16.7 million colors; and if what I gather from all the research I've done is correct, there does not exist such thing as 12ms (8bit panel) with 24bit/16.7 million colors... Right?
Anything that can be said about these monitors, would appreciated. My CRTs are dying, and I'm contemplating an LCD (1 even though both my CRTs are croaking; can't afford 2). I had considered the VP171b-2 but the colors looked washed out @ J&R. (this made me realize that I'm not willing to settle for a 6bit panel; because I THINK that's the reason for such weak colorization)
I'm a HEAVY FPS gamer, so reponse time, of course is very important. BUT, I'm also a Media Major undergrad (lots of Graphics work like😛hotoshop, Freehand, Fireworks, Illustrator, Flash etc etc.) And last but not least, (as most undergrads) I'm a budget! so price is also a key factor.
I guess those are the 3 factors that everyone is looking for, isn't it?
I have read ALL the threads here talking about LCDs such as the vp171b-2 and BenQ 937 and Hyundai L90D+ I've read so much, that I've become overwhelmed and confused. I don't know what is good or what isn't, anymore. It's like every monitor has a fan base and some people that knock it down just as hard. I was thinking of buying online, but I think I'll just go to the local store, so I can take the stuff back if I get dead pixels or something. Luckily I live in NYC, so I have BestBuy, CompUSA, CircuitCity, Staples, OfficeMax, JandR, and some others that escape my mind at the moment, to choose from. But, that is why I bring up these yet to be mentioned FLATRONs. Because they are the ones I can find locally. Only JandR carry the vp171s, and honestly, I thought the color was ATROCIOUS.
So in conclusion... HELP!!! :'(

Inconsequently their 19"1930BQ & 1930SQ is 12MS & 16.8m colors...?!?
