HI
We all know the computer brand names of Asus, Sony, Antec, ATI, etc. The quality of most brands is good, to fair to bad.
The LG brand seems to be everywhere these days.
How does LG compare to the others in quality??

Thanks

LG is a huge conglomerate, bigger than asus antec and ATi combined, but if you add sony in its a little doubtful.

LG makes everything, and i would say that they are very good products, but im sure that there is always something that will do better than it.

i would rate it up there with sony.

LG = Lucky Goldstar(they used to be knowned as just Goldstar), they changed their name when people started to associate their products with sub-par grade. They've sworn to making higher grade products to keep this from happening again.

Without LG, dell and viewsonic and other companies would be in trouble or would have problems. many companies rely on LG, just as LG relies on them to buy their products.

If you make a trip to Asia, you will notice that LG products there are ubiquitous. It's sort of like Intel and AMD (Intel being the equivalent of big electronic companies like Sony, Panasonic etc. and AMD being LG).
Even though AMD processors are just as good/fast as Intel cpu's (if not better), hardware-illiterate people still think Intel's lightyears ahead. But the difference would be that LG advertises a helluva lot more than AMD does.

I've used two LG cdr drives and needless to say the quality is top notch. Better than Lite ON

HI
What got me thinking and asking questions is the cheaper price of the LG products. When comparing thier 17 or 19 inch monitors and drives to other brands, there was at times a 10% to 15% price difference with LG being cheaper. I realize that price doesn't always determine quality. To me, it raises a flag and the need to get more information about those lesser priced products. (meaning, I am cheap!!! LOLOL)
Thanks for the input and hopefully there will be more replies tonight.
Thanks

LG is great.

Sony for example likes to inflate their prices a lot (Sony Vaio anyone? Mp3 or CD players anyone?) because they have already established a name for themselves.

I like LG
I use a lot of LG optical drives and rarely a problem.

the rest of the stuff, not too sure about, but I don't think they are a bad name at all.

I've used a few LG gadgets, CD-RW, DVD burner, LCD display, and a friend of mine has a bunch of LG home electronics.
All of it has made a good impression with me.

Interesting, I had no idea. Their rebranding has worked on me, as I doubt I'd touch a Goldstar product, but I have no problem considering LG stuff.
