I got this last month when they had the same deal. Good drive even though I haven't tried burning blu ray yet. I used it to rip some of my blu ray discs.
 
i've started seeing blu-ray blanks for $40-50 for 15 packs on deals.

I rememer buying a 2x mitsumi cdrw for $200 with $2 discs back in 1997. At the rate prices are falling I may have to get a blu-ray writer by the end of this year.

$159 is pretty hot


Make sure to check out thye combo deals with this. Its $224 with 25 pack discs (so 2.50 a disc there)

if peopel figured out how to rip hd-dvd and burn blu-ray with it (back when there were hd-dvd exclusives) i'm sure its possible.
 
Of course it's possible. AnyDVD makes it much, much easier but I've definitely burned a couple.

That said, I've had a BR burner since early last year and have not really had the need to burn on BR as I thought I would. With HD's being so cheap nowdays, you can really just buy a cheap $50 300 gig external USB drive and have much more convenience than buying/burning a BR disc.
