Was checking out monitors at CC in Queens Center, when I saw this display on clearance for $301.96.

NO washout at extreme side or top/bottom angles- same as the Westy or 24"Acer at BB (the clearance model, not the current one with hdmi). So this def. looks like a pva or mva- true 8-bit. Here is a similar one , not sure what the differences are : http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824005089

It has an audio out (green color code) on the left.
2 USB also on the left.
HDMI on the bottom ( no DVI so you need an hdmi/dvi adapter )
Component out.
D-sub.
DC-out ???
3 yrs. warranty:thumbsup:

It can swivel to the side and rotate for portrait mode.
There is a height adjustment on the wide circular base.
It is very heavy!!!- much heavier than the 24" Acer at BB I purchased earlier.

Here is a long-ass thread about it:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1167222
The cashier at CC gave me an additional $32 off the floor model ( there was none in inventory, however ALL models, new and on display are for sale, not just the floor models)
so my total was $301.96 - $32= $269.96 + $22.61 tax= $292.57 out the door.:D

*sidenote- as they had no box to put it in, I cradled it to my car a few blocks away as everyone stared at me. As I put the it in the trunk, with a rolled up towel to support it, I closed the trunk door with my car key inside. I had to take the subway home, get another set of keys, go back on the subway and then ride home. A 12 min. ride turned into a 120 min. ordeal. So, moral is, some deals ARE too good to be true.

That is a VERY good deal- I hope I can find one. Too bad about locking the keys in the trunk (I can relate)

Yeah, it usually retailed for around $575 so this is HOT, plus the 3 yrs for peace of mind.

Yes because clearly NYC is full of rioting and muggers, if you buy this monitor there surely you'll not make it home alive.

This is definately a YMMV as none of the stores on Long Island have this monitor.

It worked at the Circuit City in Irving, TX. They only had the floor model, but they discounted it to $259 + tax. The Mesquite, TX store is the only store in the DFW area that actually had one listed in stock, but you might find another floor model. So far I love it. Thanks op!

Most reports of users with both have said is the LG edges the Westy but barely. It really boils
down to features and price. The LG has the better stand (height adjustment and portrait support),
but the Westy has built in speakers (yes they sound like crap but better than nothing) and a full
set of analog inputs. The LG has a three yr warranty vs the Westy's one year if that is important
to you. The Westy is currently on sale at BB for $349. I have the Westy and so far very happy
with it.

I had both the Westy and the LG and did a side-by-side for about a week before deciding to keep the LG. I did the "red dot" test where you make a MS Paint image of a red dot about an inch wide in the middle of a gray background and then downsize the window so it takes up about a quarter of the screen and drag it around to check for ghosting, etc. The Westy left a noticeable red trail behind the dot, and the LG didn't, but it redrew the dot a lot. I don't pretend to understand the technical reasons behind that, but I scored that one for the LG. Ironically, I noticed slightly more ghosting in games with the LG. Color-wise, they were indistinguishable.

The LG won out in the end because there was, in my opinion, not enough additional ghosting in games to fault it when I considered its other pros. The Westy looked and felt cheap to me, especially the stand and the clear plastic at the bottom of the screen. Also, the LG will go into standby correctly using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, and the Westy wouldn't. Finally, I had the dreaded buzz from the Westy at brightness levels below 98 or so.
