I've had this since November. Burned plenty of blu-ray disks (25GB single layer) with only a small amount of coasters, like probably one coaster out of 30 burns, which could be related to the disk quality and not the burner.
 
I bought one in Nov. also and last month, I tried to burn a Blu-ray disc but my LG burner does not recognize any disk. I am in the process of contacting LG to repair or fix my burner.

update:NM, seems to be working now.

If you are looking to compress a movie to fit on a cheaper 25GB disk, check out BD Rebuilder and Imageburn. Google to find.

This. I've been using them for a few months now and the BD remuxes are good enough. You forgot to mention that they are free. :thumbsup:
 
Just saying right now, I actually went through 3 of these things, first one died off the bat, 2nd one burned 2 disks then died and the next one burned 7 disks then refused to work. As in refused to work it would just constantly spin, you would have to manually eject it and in doing so, kills the ability for the drive to even work and no power going through it. Even if you reset the system or just press the reset button, it would stall at POST because of the driving still being frozen. In all honesty, I don't recommend it.
 
why are bluray burners more then $30 a pop? seriously, the markup on this crap is staggering. without a doubt, if hd-dvd won the battle there wouldnt even be an economic reason to play with dvd's anymore.. ugh...

About 10 years ago I paid close to $200 for a CD burner, I'd say $80 for the latest technology's a pretty damn good deal. BluRay burners can burn HD 50 gig BluRays, For $30 you can get a DVD Burner that will burn a 8 gig SD disc. Do you really expect BluRay drives to cost basically the same as DVD's?

yes because the technology is not more costly. in fact i remember blue laser drives were always supposed to be cheaper then red laser ones. theyre just playing the market with their pricing, and thats fine, but i think if there was proper competition you would see bluray prices nearly match dvd prices.

It is much more costly though, when you make a Blu Ray drive you have to pay Sony licensing fees.
